Soak up the Vitamin C with BeautyStat + Fable & Mane!

Vitamin C can be a very helpful ingredient to have in your skincare routine, it provides a number of benefits including brightening your complex, decreases hyperpigmentation, hydrates skin and more. I was recently sent a wonderful PR package that included two products from the brand BeautyStat & two products from the brand Fable & Mane all of which have Vitamin C as a main ingredient. This group of products was brought together to be a Vitamin C powerhouse to boost both your face & scalp. Let's dive into what I received & what I thought about it.

Fable & Mane SahaScalp Wild Ginger Purifying Scrub. I have never used a scalp scrub before so I wasn't quite sure what to expect and whether it would be difficult to use or not. This scrub was actually pretty easy to use, it was able to get all the way down to my scalp without just getting caught up on my hair. Using it felt nice, like a gentle massage for your head. It rinsed out without any issues & my scalp felt so clean and refreshed after, plus it smells amazing. The scrub is suitable for all hair types, it is vegan, color safe and has no silicones - The brand is also cruelty free! I'd love a room spray that smells like this scalp scrub. I only needed a little bit of the scrub & since it isn't something you'll use every day the jar will last for several uses. Based off of what I used, I will guess I can get close to between eight to ten scrubs with this jar. You can pick up this scrub on the Fable & Mane website for $36 it comes in a 8oz jar. My hair did not feel greasy or look greasy after using this which is another pro.

Fable & Mane SahaScalp Amla Soothing Serum. This is a pre-wash hair oil which aims to help you maintain dandruff, cuts down on product build up & helps soothe an itchy scalp. The smell of this is calming & soothing which is a perfect way to start off your shower. You can either use it shortly before you get into the shower or you can leave it in overnight before a morning shower. It is recommended that you use this once bi-weekly for best results & your hair type will help determine how much product you'll need to use. I have fine hair so I only need several drops which means I'll have this bottle for quite some time. This combined with the scrub I reviewed above will leave you feeling like you just got back from the hair salon. This serum can be picked up on the Fable & Mane website for $38.

BeautyStat Universal C Skin Refiner. This product aims to help tighten & firm skin which helps reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. This product goes on smoothly and absorbs quickly, it dries to a powder like consistency with a slight bit of slickness where it was used. It will leave your skin feel refreshed and moisturized, I also like that it doesn't have any strong scents as I generally do not like scented skincare products. This product can be bought in a 1oz container on the BeautyStat website for $85.

BeautyStat Universal C Eye Perfector. Most of us keep busy schedules and do not always get the correct amount of sleep we need which is one of the things that can lead to dark bags under the eyes. Eye creams and serums can help reduce the look of dark bags, fine lines and help tighten the skin. This product has a nice light scent & a little goes a long way. You'll only need one pump for both eyes, much like the other product above this absorbs quickly and leaves an almost powdery finish when you touch it after you apply it. You can pick this product up on their website for $65.

Cabs Beauty Hair Care Review!

I was recently invited to review a set of hair care products from Cabs Beauty which includes their argan oil shampoo, argan oil conditioner, argan oil serum & repair spray. Their products are cruelty free, paraben free, phosphate free & silicone free. I've used a product or two in the past that had argan oil that I enjoyed, so I was excited to try this out to see if it would work with my hair or not.

I am someone who dyes their hair vibrant colors & sometimes shampoos can be pretty harsh when it comes to stripping more of the color away with each wash than you'd like it to. I have noticed this shampoo removes hardly any color while still cleansing the hair which is wonderful, because it will help the color stay longer which means adding in color less. I also like the conditioner, it helps add some moisture and shine to my hair while helping with my frizz a little bit while keeping the natural wavy bounce my hair normally has. Both of the products lather well & are easy to work through your hair so you are able to get down to the scalp while coating each strand of hair. All of the products have a nice airy scent to them which will last a day or two after washing. The moisture repair spray seems to be a kind of all in one product, it helps with anti-frizz, helps repair while moisturizing & can be used to help prevent damage when using a blow-dryer or hair straightener.

When I was younger I didn't really like how naturally wavy my hair was so I would straighten my hair quite often, however I have since embraced how my hair looks so I don't really straighten it as often and I always let my hair dry naturally after taking a shower so I mainly use this spray just for some added moisture & frizz control. It does seem to help and adds a little bit of a shine as well which is great. I haven't used the hair serum much, however I've been using it on my husbands hair at night (he has a mohawk type hair style) and he has noticed his hair feels stronger and is softer although his hair was already pretty soft. After using these products my hair does feel soft & looks light and bouncy, I look forward to finishing the bottles and seeing the true end results of using the Cabs products during a longer stretch of time. Price wise they seem fairly affordable, they are on the higher end of hair care products but are still below salon prices. The shampoo & conditioner are $15.80 per bottle, I've used them a few times now and still feel like I have a lot of product left. Depending on how often you wash your hair & how much product you use I'd say the bottles will last one to two months. The moisture spray is $12.80 & the serum is $13.80, both are products you will use very little of with each use so the bottles will last quite sometime.

What is a quality of your hair you'd like to change?

Reduce plastic waste with Viori hair care bars!

I have always been curious about shampoo & conditioner bars so when I was given the chance to work with Viori on a review, I was excited & looked forward to trying them out. Why go with a bar instead of a traditional bottle? This is a great way to help cut back on waste, not only from the amount of plastic that is saved but you'll be able to save some of the product itself as it can be a pain to get 100% of the product out of the bottle. They currently offer three different scents & one unscented option for their bars, they also sell body wash & bamboo bar holders.

I was gifted a bamboo bar holder along with one shampoo bar + one conditioner bar in the scent Citrus Yao. The products are 100% Vegan, cruelty-free, ethically sourced, plastic-free and sustainable. The bars are $18 each for a one time purchase or you can set up a subscription to get the bars at a discounted price. So we've covered the basics, let's get down to the actual review. The bars are made using traditional longsheng rice water which is purchased directly from the Red Yao women in China.

The bars smell lovely, the scent is well balanced & not overwhelming. It works exactly how a normal bar of soap would, you can get it started by running it under the water then rubbing it in between your hands, or simply apply the bar directly to your hair by rubbing it in small circular motions around your scalp. I find that the shampoo bar suds really well & only a little is needed to get a good application, however I find the conditioner much harder to get a good application. I do not know if it is just due to the different formulas or the shape of the bar. I generally only use shampoo every so often, because my hair always gets extremely puffy & frizzy after I use it and generally seems to do better with just conditioner. However that is not the case with this shampoo. It does give my hair a slight amount of volume, but it still looks good & styled after using this hair care combo instead of just looking messy. My hair can get a bit oily and this has been a big help with that as well. The scent of the bars will stay in your hair for two days or so and even after it fades, your hair will still feel clean.

I have used these bars several times now & it hasn't made a large dent in the bars. I can see these lasting for quite some time which hopefully will also help down costs if you are not buying shampoo & conditioner as often. If you are looking for a new routine for your hair & want to start cutting back on waste this company is a great starting point.

Help control frizz with Emera CBD Hair Care!

Emera is a fantastic CBD brand that has a large line of hair care products designed to help your hair feel & look it's best. They are part of the brands that fall under the Earthly Body line (Which are all fantastic by the way) and have recently switched to all sustainable packaging. One of the things I love about all of their products is that they smell fantastic & in turn it makes your hair smell good as well. The products in this line have a Seagrass mint smell which has fragrance notes of sun-drenched ivy, lily of the valley and of course peppermint.

I am going to be sharing three of their wonderful products with you and I highly suggest looking at the rest of this line and the other lines they have as well, your hair will thank you.

Emera CBD Conditioner (Retail $24.99 10oz) - The new bottles are made from Aluminum and have a pump top to get the product out. My bottle ended up with a small ding in the side of the can but it doesn't affect the product or how well it comes out using the pump. When I use this I mainly focus on my scalp and roots, then I add a little water to work it down the rest of my hair. I typically use about half a palm full to a palm full of conditioner when I shower, a bottle can last quite sometime. After the bottle has been emptied using the pump, I add a little water, shake it up and get the last of the product out, this also helps rinse the bottle out before I put it into the recycle bin.

Emera CBD Reparative Treatment (Retail $30.00 5.1oz) - This is a gentle hair mask that you'll work into damp hair then leave for three to five minutes before rinsing your hair. I generally like to use this once a week, or the day before I do a touch up to my hair dye to help provide some extra moisture to my hair. It is designed to nourish your scalp while strengthening your hair and reducing frizz.

Emera CBD Detangler Plus (Retail $24.99 4oz) - I love using this when I brush my hair out in the morning and in the evening when I brush my hair, it really helps get through any tangles that might have formed. My hair feels refreshed, soft and less frizzy after using this and the added bonus of it smelling lovely is great.

If you want to try them out you can save 25% OFF your order using code luna25 during check out, you can use this code on any of the Earthly Body brands (Emera, Marrakesh, CBD Daily, Hemp Seed, MKS Eco, Fleurtiva, and Chosen by Dogs).

MKS Eco hair care product review!

One of my favorite brands has updated their name and redesigned their product packaging, but the products themselves are still amazing as ever! I have shared a few products from their line in the past and now I want to share a few new products I was able to test out with you and show you what their new packaging looks like. The company used to be called Marrakesh, and they now go by MKS Eco. their product packaging has all been updated to materials that are sustainable like glass and aluminum that can be recycled.

Their products always leave my hair feeling moisturized and smelling lovely so I am always happy to try out something new, or get an old favorite to continue using like my holy grail item which is their Miracle Masque. Let's dive into the products I was recently sent to check out;

Color Care Conditioner (Retail $17.99) - This conditioner contains a number of beneficial ingredients like sunflower seed extract, argan & hemp oils. I like that it helps the color I use in my stay looking vibrant, clean and moisturized without stripping away large amounts of the dye like other brands I've tried out. Plus it smells good with a floral scent mixed with a little citrus. I am on the fence with the new bottle style for this particular product, if the bottle I received had a working pump it would have been better. The pump on the bottle is stuck and won't budge to open so I have to take it off to get the product out, which isn't a biggie except that the new bottle is aluminum and stiff so you can't squeeze it to get the product out, instead I have to shake it around like a crazy maraca to get it out.

Color Care X Leave In & Detangler (Retail $15.99) - Both my daughter and I like using this product in the mornings and evenings when we brush out our hair. It helps cut down on tangles, leaving your hair smooth and tangle free, I also find it helps with a little bit of frizz when I put my hair up for work. I use this every morning when I am getting ready for the day. The glass bottle this is in is nice, you can see how much product you have left.

Bounce Volumizing Spray (Retail $11.99) - My hair can be a crazy mess at times, my hair is naturally caught between being curly and being wavy so it is usually a little poofy. This helps cut down on the poof while still leaving my hair with a bit of bounce to it so when I wear my hair down it looks its best. I usually use three or four sprays of it and it is enough to get the job done. I like how this smells and the glass bottle it comes in is quite nice, the bottle is large enough this will last quite some time.

Kahm Smoothing Treatment ($20.99) - This is one I really like using on my daughters hair, she has been trying to grow it out because she wants it waist long, but that also means it needs a bit of a trim but to split ends. We plan on trimming the split ends soon, but in the mean time this helps keep everything smoothed down without looking greasy or oily which is a huge plus. We use between four to five pumps to cover all of her hair, it spreads out quickly and evenly then we give her hair a gentle brushing to help it all penetrate the hair strands properly. We use this when styling her hair, but we also like to use it after her hair has been washed and air dries.

Curl Cream (Retail $15.99) - Okay I have to admit I haven't tried this one as much as the others, I tend to stay away from curl products as most of them just seem to leave you with crunchy hair instead of working how they should. The two times I tested this out it helped keep my hair more uniform without leaving a coating on my hair and I've never had any of their products leave my hair looking greasy or weighed down by product.

As great as all the products mentioned above are nothing beats their Miracle Masque, I have really fallen in love with it! I use it about twice a week and the jar lasts me about two months because you don't need a ton of product to get your hair to look nice. It always leaves my hair feeling soft, moisturized, smelling amazing and gives it a light bounce, I've also noticed my hair doesn't get that oily look as fast. I always dislike products that make your hair look great for a day, but then seem to make your hair super oily after so that is a big reason I love this product is because it fights that. When I run out of their products and switch to using up some of the other products I have, I can tell a difference in my hair. (my hair prefers the MKS products!)

You can get 25% Off any purchase of MKS Eco or the other Earthly Body products (including CBD drops) by using code Luna25 during check out. You can shop their wide range of products on the Earthly Body website.

Help control your messy hair with Marrakesh!

If you've visited my blog within the last month you may have seen my last Marrakesh post featuring one of my newest "Holy grail" hair care items. Now, I am going to be sharing another three great items from their line with you.

MKS eco oil 2oz (High Tide Scent) - The high tide scent is one of my favorites by Marrakesh, it is a mixture of coconut, lime and verbena. A candle or air spray of this scent would be amazing to have, I'd use it all the time. You can use this product on both wet or dry hair to help control frizz, while keeping your hair looking shiny and healthy. A little goes a long way so don't go over board when applying this! You can pick up a bottle for $23.99, with how long a bottle will last I say the price is on point. Plus it comes in a nice glass bottle.

Just a small pump or two of this is enough to use on the entire head, I always put a little in my hands, then rub my hands together and run it through my hair to help cover up any dead ends or stray hairs that may be sticking out. Using it prior to using a straightener also helps it look shiny smooth.

MKS eco Kahm Smoothing Treatment 2oz - The Kahm treatment has a earthy scent to it, it reminds me of going to a spa and them having candles burning while massaging you with scented oils. It is calming and actually quite a lovely scent. This product is meant to help provide you with frizz control while helping with humidity control.

My hair goes POOF when it is too humid out, typically I decide just to throw my hair into a pony tail because I know it will just be a mess otherwise. This helps control and combat that so I can wear my hair down if I choose to, and it helps my pony tails/buns look better too. This is the same as the oil and a little goes a long way, this is a little thicker than the oil so don't use too much. A 2oz bottle can be purchased for $20.99 from their site and this one also comes in a nice glass bottle.

MKS eco X 4oz Detangler in the scent High Tide - Sometimes my daughter will ask me to brush her hair just so she can use this spray, it smells amazing and leaves your hair feeling soft. This product helps control frizz giving you a sleek shiny look without your hair looking oily. The spray is a little thick and sometimes the nozzle will clog, to fix this you can wipe the nozzle off after a few sprays or add just a little water to the bottle then shake. This particular product comes in a plastic bottle vs a glass bottle like the two shown above, but it the packaging is still nice.

I like using this both when I am getting ready to go somewhere and at home just because. I usually throw my hair up in a pony tail for half of my work week, prior to putting my hair up it is nice to give my hair a few sprays of this to tame the frizz and help those little fly away baby hairs that stick up sometime. It helps my hair look nice and it leaves it smelling so sweet. You can pick one up on their website for $16.99

Keep your dyed hair looking its best with Marrakesh!

If I had to name one of my favorite hair care brands, the first one that would come to mind is Marrakesh and for good reason. I have tried out a few of their products in the past (visit the post here.) and recently had the chance to try out more of their fantastic products.

I would consider the Marrakesh Miracle Masque my "holy grail" hair care product. I have never really had the best hair possible, it is thin, can get oily and I recently started dyeing it again after many years of not doing so. I use this masque once a week and it makes a huge difference for my hair, not to mention the product smells amazing. So much in fact that I actually brought the container with my to work because my work friends wanted to smell it after I had been talking about it.

My hair feels silky smooth and light weight after using this, and it will leave your hair smelling lovely for the next few days along with helping it not get so oily/look oily. While I still retain my natural fluffiness when it comes to my hair, it feels moisturized and healthier. The jar might seem a little pricey to some at $25.99 for a 8oz bottle, but you'd be surprised how long the container actually lasts. I usually use half a handful and it will cover my scalp and hair nicely, and if you need a little more just add a little water to lather it better. I use this at the start of my shower to allow it time to sit and work its magic, then I rinse it out prior to getting out of the shower. I've used this about six or seven times in the last month and a half and you can see how much is still left in the container above, I would say there is at least another four applications with this.

For my those with  semi-permanent unnatural hair colors (such as myself), this product should not make a bunch of your color wash out. Granted this depends on the brand of hair dye you used as some naturally wash out significantly faster than others, for the brand I use this actually helps my color look its best.

Speaking of dyed hair Marrakesh has a color care line which consists of a shampoo, conditioner and leave-in treatment/detangler that is specifically made for customers that color their hair. First I will go over the detangler, the instructions say you should use it on clean, towel dried hair, however you can also use it on the go or when you are in a rush.

Sometimes I use this to help tamp my hair back down if I was just driving with my windows down and my hair got a bit messy. The formula is a little thick so from time to time it might not spray properly, to fix it you'll just need to wipe the hole of the nozzle off and it will spray properly again. The spray is lightly scented but it dissipates quickly. One of the things that I like about this is that it dries quickly and doesn't make your hair look greasy or unwashed like some products can do even when only using a small amount. You can pick up a bottle of this for $15.99 over on their website.

Next up is the color care shampoo & conditioner. I am going to be honest, I am not a big fan of shampoo I usually only buy conditioner but tried it out as the combo. The color care line has been a great way to keep my hair looking and smelling clean, and looking its best while still retaining the blue/purple color I have in it. With some shampoo/conditioner it will really strip away the dye and some end up making your hair feel either dry or look oily and who wants their shampoo/conditioner to do that? I haven't experienced any of that with this brand.

My hair always smells great, feels soft and is ready for the day after I wash it with the Marrakesh line! Along with these fantastic products Marrakesh has a TON of other awesome products worth buying, and they have several sister companies that sell worth while products as well. You can get 25% Off any purchase of Marrakesh or the other Earthly Body products (including CBD drops) by using code Luna25 during check out. You can shop their wide range of products on the Earthly Body website.

Get shiny and smooth hair with Marrakesh!

My hair has always been caught in the middle of being considered curly and wavy, it also usually has a bit of frizz to it so I like using Anti-frizz products to help manage my hair. I've worked with the  brand Earthly Body to review a few of the product lines they have under their company, one of those product lines is called Marrakesh which is a hair product line. I was pretty excited to try out this line and that is for great reason, all of their products are pretty spectacular.

For my review I was sent the Fine hair collection which is a shampoo, a conditioner, oil light, and a leave in treatment, Marrakesh X which is a detangler/leave-in conditioner in the scent High Tide, Endz, and Mod. The scents they select for their products are enchanting, If I could own one of each product in every scent they have I would! Some hair care products have a nice scent that fades away quickly, the scents that Marrakesh uses stick around for a while so you'll notice the nice scent during the day. All of their products are gender friendly. All of their products are made with Argan oil and Hemp seed to help strengthen and improve your hair.

Marrakesh X 4oz in the scent High Tide (Retail $13.99) & Marrakesh X 4oz in scent Light Breeze- I use this for both my daughter and I. Not only does this help fight frizz but it also detangles your hair and helps prevent damage from heat while using your curling/flat irons. Sometimes the product doesn't want to spritz out properly so I have to shake the bottle, otherwise we completely love this. We both really enjoy the scents, our favorite is High Tide. My daughter has always had a lot of tangles in her hair, when she was younger she hated getting her hair brushed because it hurt, however this really helps manage the knots and keep her hair looking shiny and smooth.

Marrakesh Mod 4oz in the original scent (Retail $16.99) - Mod is a styling product meant to help give your hair body/texture while holding the style you put your hair into. I generally wear a pony tail when I am at work, it is easy and it stays out of my face while I am working, after I put it up I like to use a little of this to hold my hair into place, managing my frizz. The scent of this is nice and light, and the product itself is light weight as well. You won't have any issues with crunchy hair while using this (It is gross when hair gels do that!).

Marrakesh Endz 4oz in the original scent (Retail $17.99) - If you experience a lot of split ends and have damaged hair from dye products this is a great product for you. This formula is made to help mend split ends, control frizz/static, and help strengthen you hair. I like mixing a little bit of this and the Mod to put onto the lower half of my hair and on my ends. My hair feels soft and smooth after using this product, I love how my hair looks when after I straighten it when I am using these products. I cut my hair a little not too long ago, and so far I haven't had a ton of split ends come back which is nice.

Marrakesh Oil Light 2oz in the scent light breeze (Retail $22.99) - To be honest I haven't used this one as much, not because it doesn't do a good job but because the Endz/Mod combo I use works really well so I don't want to overload my hair with too many products at once. This product was created to help add shine and texture to your hair without weighing it down and it works well with fine hair. The scent is lovely and the product formula really is light and absorbs quickly into your hair.

Marrakesh hydrate shampoo + conditioner for fine hair 12oz in the scent Light Breeze (Retail $13.99 each) - They do sell other shampoos and conditioners in other scents, however this one is specially formulated for fine hair. The bottle is only 12oz, but it lasts for a surprisingly long time because you don't need a ton of the products in order to get the desired wash you are wanting. The scent is relaxing and calming while you are in the shower, and your hair will be left feeling clean and soft after using this.

What are some of the hair concerns you'd like to find a product for? And what is your current favorite product?

Along with the products mentioned above they have a ton of other fantastic products including shaving products and a few skincare items as well. You can get 25% Off any purchase of Marrakesh or the other Earthly Body products (including CBD drops) by using code Luna25 during check out. You can shop their wide range of products on the Earthly Body website.

Help Eliminate hair frizz with No.6 Bond Smoother by Olaplex!

My hair is a mixture of curls and waves, some days it wants to be big fluffy waves and other days it prefers to sit in tighter curl formation. The one thing that it almost always is though is frizzy, especially when it is humid outside! I've tried several "anti-frizz" conditioners but a majority of the time they don't work properly and end up leaving your hair looking greasy. I was recently offered a chance to try out the No.6 Bond smoother by Olaplex.

The No.6 Bond Smoother comes in a 3.3fl oz bottle and sells for $28, you can purchase it directly through their site or find it at Sephora/Amazon. This product can be used when your hair is dry or when it is wet, I usually prefer to use it just after I get out of the shower while my hair is still wet then I let my hair air dry. When I use it after getting out of the shower it does help prevent about 90% of my hair frizz, I still get a little frizz from time to time, however I think that is mainly due to it being extra humid the last week or two here in Arizona. You do not need a large amount of this product in order to work it into your hair, my hair is a decent length it sits a few inches below my shoulders and I only need about a dime sized amount to work through my hair to get my desired look. The formula is pretty thick but it is easy to spread out evenly in your hair.

Generally when I am working I have my hair up in a pony tail because it is too hot during the day to have my hair down, plus I go into work pretty early so I am usually too lazy to do my hair before I leave. When I put my hair up if I notice a little extra frizz at the top I use a very small pinky nail sized amount of the bond smoother to use almost like a gel to keep the frizz down and it works quite well. Some styling products can leave your hair feeling hard or "crunchy", I have not noticed that with this product, my hair is still manageable, easy to brush and it doesn't look like I poured a bottle of greasy into my hair. This product also helps strengthen, hydrate, and moisturize your hair while smoothing it out, I haven't noticed a huge difference in the strength of my hair as I've only used this product a hand full of times, however my hair has felt softer when using this product. Smell wise it has a nice light scent, nothing over powering. My only dislike about this product is the packaging itself, I wish it were in a tube because the product is a little thick so I have to shake it a bunch to get the product near the opening and with wet hands it can be a little difficult to squeeze so I think a tube would be easier to manage. Curl Therapy Shampoo + Conditioner from PURA D'OR

My hair can act like a moody teenager, it is never sure exactly how it wants to look or how it wants to act. One day it might look like large loose curls as if I'd use a curling iron on it, other days it is like large ocean waves and other days it is just a wavy frizzy mess with a curl here and there. Today I have a short review to share with you on a set of shampoo & conditioner I received from PURA D'OR to review. Each bottle retails at $19.99 for a 16oz bottle.

I received two products from the curl therapy line. This line is specially created to boost the shine of your hair, add luster while also encouraging your hairs shape and structure to reduce hair frizz. My husband doesn't like the way this product smells when in use but likes the lingering smell once it has been rinsed out. It kind of smells similar to one of my favorite face washes, it is pretty hard to describe how it smells has almost a minty sandalwood scent.

I like that I don't need a large amount to evenly coat my hair while washing it, and it rinses out thoroughly without issue. My hair feels and looks great after using this set, most days I need a little bit of anti-frizz spray however after using this I don't need it as my hair calms down quite a bit from it's normal state. My hair in the photo above was during the same day that I used this set in the morning, I was pretty happy with how my hair day was , my hair seemed to fall in just the right place and looked healthy + shiny without looking overly greasy like some shampoo/conditioner sets can. This hair set has made me pretty happy and I enjoy using it.

Customize your hair routine with Formula.co + A Giveaway!

My hair has taken a lot during my lifetime, from the time I was twelve to fourteen I dyed my hair black, then once I reached High school and colored hair was allowed I bleached my hair and dyed it bright. From the time I was in high school until I was about twenty one my hair was every color of the rainbow, until it reached a point when it started looking damaged and thinned out a bit as I got older. So for the last few years I've maintained my natural hair color, and I don't straighten it as often as I used too instead I keep it the natural wavy curly state it grows. My hairs natural state is caught between curly and wavy, it is also a bit puffy and frizzy, always has been.

When it comes to shampoo/conditioner I've always just kind of bought what caught my eye and never landed on a "favorite" brand to buy because they all seemed about the same to me. Recently I learned about a newer brand called Formulate who creates customized shampoo/conditioner until I was contacted by one of their members. Yes, you read that right their shampoo/conditioner is customized to YOU! Plus their products are Preservative free, Sulfate free, Paraben free and Cruelty free.

You start out your journey by filling out a personalized hair profile, they ask you several different questions to narrow down exactly what you are looking for and your current hair state. They ask how long your hair is, if your scalp is sensitive, how thick your hair is, what types of tools you use on your hair and more, the process takes about five minutes. At the end they give you a summary of everything and the formula selected for you based off of your answers! I do want to note that if you need to go back to fix something or you decide to come back later to make a purchase and re-fill out the profile your ingredients list may be slightly different as they have a few products that do the same thing and they get swapped out from what I noticed (I took the test three times to see how the end results would be). You get to select your scent as well and how strong of a fragrance you want. Everything is saved to your Formulate profile which looks like this:

Once your profile is complete the last step is to order your set and wait for it to arrive! You can order full size which is $49 for one shampoo and one conditioner each 14oz, or you can order a trial set for $19 which comes with one 4oz bottle of each. How long the bottle lasts depends on you, I typically wash my hair every 3-4 days otherwise it puffs up or looks greasy from over washing so I followed the same schedule with this set. I've been using it for about two weeks and a half weeks, I have about half a bottle left but I noticed when I first received the bottles they aren't filled up all the way there is about a 1-2 inch space from the product to the top of the bottle. So I'd say I've used about a quarter of the product. It comes with a easy to follow directions, they recommend using four pumps of the shampoo to get rid of any residue, grease or dirt on your hair then rinsing it followed by one more four pump wash with the shampoo. After the second rinse they recommend four pumps of the conditioner as well then leaving it in for a few minutes before rinsing. You may experience an adjustment period going from products with sulfate to a sulfate free product.

What if you don't like your formula or it isn't working quite as you expected? No need to worry, on the Formulate app you can provide feedback to their chemists and request a re-formulated set at no additional cost to you. They want you to have a product that works for you and want you to continue using their products so they want to make sure you are happy and expect some may change their forumlas. I myself changed my formula, as I mentioned my hair is caught in the middle of wavy and curly, I usually have large loose wavy curls. The formula seemed to be making my hair somewhat straighter while separating the curls but it looked more out of control and fluffy than normal. A second thing I noticed was the conditioner of this set didn't seem to wash out right and instead super absorbed into my hair, which made it smell freshly washed for several days but it made it look greasy at the same time.  I also didn't like the smell of the scent I choose which was "At Dawn" a combo of rose, green apple and pear it was too over whelming. For my new set I asked for a little more frizz control and a new scent "Freshly Squeezed" which is tangerine and sweet orange. It didn't take long for my new set to arrive.

How do you know if they actually changed the formula? The main sign that showed me the formula had changed was how the conditioner looks, if you look at the image above both are the conditioner I tried  yet they look completely different.

Did it work for me? I would say yes. There is not a giant change in how it looks, my hair is still a bit frizzy but I don't think that will ever change no matter what I use but I can tell a difference. My hair looks less dry and looks healthier than it did before, the main change is how it feels. When I run my hand through my hair it feels healthier, lighter, smoother and it seems like I get less tangles. Before it just felt dry. My hair also seems easier to style and stays feeling cleaner longer than with traditional shampoo/conditioners. My scalp feels healthy + moisturized, I have not noticed any issues with dandruff or feeling like my scalp is dried out from the rising temperatures outside. In the photo above on the left you can see my hair looks a bit dry and extra frizzy, on the right you can see that it looks more moisturized and less frizzy. I really like the new scent in the second formulate set I received and my husband enjoys the small as well because it is both refreshing and smells clean. Will I continue to use this? I would like to continue using it because I do like what it does to my hair, however I want to see how long the bottles last first before deciding.

Texture Tame Giveaway!

**This is not a sponsored post, the giveaway product has been provided by me for one of my readers.**

My hair has a mind of it's own! Ever since I was small my hair has always been a big ball of frizzy mess, summer time humidity makes it even worse which is why I generally don't bother straightening my hair during the summer months. I know throwing it up in a pony tail probably makes me look like a bum but as soon as I step outside my hair goes Poof. I've tried several anti-frizz products which do help out quite a bit, I haven't tried out the Texture Tame line but I've heard a lot of great things about it so I picked up a set to giveaway to one of my readers who also suffers from a lion's mane. It comes with three different products to perform a treatment on your hair to help control your frizz.
