NYX Cosmetics Giveaway!

**This is not a paid post nor is it sponsored by the company mentioned below, this is a giveaway I put together myself to give back to my readers who follow and support my blog!**

I've tried a large group of different makeup companies ranging from drug store products to high end makeup that have some eye popping prices, but through all of it NYX still remains one of my favorite brands when it comes to quality and price of their products.

One of my favorite blue eyeliners ran out recently and I also wanted to pick up a red eyeliner so I set out to Ulta to pick up a few products, when I was there I learned they were having a special promotion where if you spent twenty dollars on NYX products you'd get the goodie bag and goodies shown above. So I did what any makeup lover would do and decided to get a few of the other things I needed and wanted makeup wise and ended up with two of these bags, one for me and one for one of my readers.

The makeup bag is shaped like a pair of lips and seems like it will old quite a bit of makeup, inside there is a Matte liquid eye liner in black, a soft matte lip cream in Copenhagen and a matching lip liner. I was very excited to get the lip liner because Copenhagen is one of my favorite colors by NYX but I was in need of the matching liner, since I already have a tube of the lip cream I will be putting the one I got in my lip bag in one of my next giveaways. I also wasn't super crazy about the bag because I already have too many bags so I will include that in one of my next giveaways as well which will probably be the "The Beauty and The Book" giveaway that I like to do where I giveaway a book and beauty goodies.

PRIZE ALERT:
One lucky reader is going to win the makeup bag and NYX goodies shown above.

This is open World Wide!! Please remember if you DO NOT leave a comment on this blog post as your mandatory entry into the giveaway then all of your entries will be void. Doing the Daily entries will increase your chance of winning. Winners have 72 hours to respond to the notification email!

This giveaway ends on 06/14/2018

Great Polar Bear Book Review!

**This was not a paid post. The products mentioned below have been provided by Quarto Knows for the review  free of charge however my honest opinions were used. The opinions expressed below are solely my own & they may vary from others.**

Reading with my kids and seeing them read on their own is always such a treat, I love seeing them get lost in a good book whether it is a picture book or a chapter book but I love it even more when they are able to learn fun facts while enjoying the book as well. I recently received a book called Great Polar Bear from Quarto Knows Press and it is a fun mixture of a picture book and fun facts. This book is a scientifically accurate story about a year in the life of a polar bear presented in a poetic manner.

This book might only be 32 pages long but it is packed full of information and great watercolor based imagery. Instead of being a book that might appear boring to kids this book allows the child the chance to relax and enjoy the story while learning at the same time. At the end of the book there is a neat little chart that shows you where you can find polar bears in the wild plus there is a page of explorer notes.

My kids both seemed to enjoy this book and are happy to add it to our collection. My son's favorite part are the images of real polar bears in the back of the book, and he likes seeing the other small animals shown in the drawings through out the book. I enjoyed reading this book as well, everything was written so well that the book read quite smoothly. This book retails for $17.95 and is available in hard cover.

Spa Life Review + Giveaway (12 face masks)!

**This was not a paid post. The products mentioned below have been provided by MySpaLife.Net  for the review & giveaway free of charge however my honest opinions were used. The opinions expressed below are solely my own & they may vary from others.**

Summer has hit here in Arizona which means hot and dry weather which can do quite the number on your skin especially if you aren't staying hydrated. I always go through a bit of a crappy transition from winter to summer when my skin is dry in patches but slightly oily in other spots so I decided to look into some face masks to help balance out my skin. SpaLife or as some may know it MySpaLife.Net is the perfect place to look for masks, peels and cleansers to try out because they offer dozens of different products for you to purchase. For a review I wasn't sure what I wanted to try out so I just provided a long list of things that looked like they would be good to try and they selected random items from the list to send out along with two sets of twelve face masks to giveaway so I decided to do an unboxing video for them. I was super nervous as I've never recorded a review or unboxing video before, I will include a link to it on the rafflecopter form and you can gain extra entries into this giveaway by watching and commenting on the video.

Pore Minimizing Hydrogel Nose Mask pack of 6 - Retail value $25 - These masks are great for those who are prone to getting lots of small black heads along their nose area. I generally don't get a lot of acne on my face expect for my nose where I always seem to have a small cluster of black heads so I was excited to try these out. The nose mask was large enough to cover my entire nose from the tip of my nose up to in between my eyebrows. The masks come individually wrapped and are a bit cold when you put them on, once on you can kick back and relax for 20-30 mins while the mask does it's job. I did notice that my nose started becoming itchy by the end of the treatment but it wasn't uncomfortable, and I did notice a bit of a difference in the appearance of the pores on my nose after using this.

Hydrating Collagen Lip Mask infused with red wine & antioxidants pack of 6 - Retail value $25 - I've never used a lip mask before so this was entirely new for me, I generally don't like when masks sit too close to my eyes or lips. The masks smell nice they have a light rose scent to them and they are light weight so you don't have to worry about it falling off your face. Each one has a small slit down the middle so you are still able to talk normally while wearing these but I found having the slit made it to where the mask didn't sit on my lips properly so I over lapped the top and bottom lip to keep them covered and just didn't talk for 20 mins while I used this. My lips did look a bit more hydrated using this but I didn't notice a huge different in how my lips looked or felt.

Pore Cleaning Bubble Mask - Single $8 3 pack $22 - This mask was so strange to use! When you first place the mask on your face it is completely smooth but as you start to wear it the mask begins to bubble almost making your face appear hairy. You can feel the bubbles working, it gives your face a tingly feeling and the bubbles are fun to smooth out with your hands when you are about to take the mask off. My face felt clean and refreshed after using this and I liked that the mask didn't sit too close to my eyes.

Pore Clarifying Lump of Coal Activated Charcoal Mask + Assorted masks. With the chance in weather and what it does to my skin I didn't want to overload my face by using multiple face masks in one week so I have not used all of these masks. As I use them I can update this post on what I thought about them but based off the other products I've tested out from this brand I have a feeling I will like these masks as well.

PRIZE ALERT:
Two lucky readers are each going to win a set of 12 assorted face masks as shown above. Each mask has a different effect such as moisturizing, soothing, energizing, etc. Value $42

💋 Plus as an added bonus you'll want to be following my Instagram for another giveaway soon where I will include one of the nose masks, a lip mask, a face mask and a few other goodies in a IG only giveaway. (Those who follow just to unfollow after the giveaway then re-follow to enter a different giveaway will be banned from all future giveaways)

This is open World Wide!! Please remember if you DO NOT leave a comment on this blog post as your mandatory entry into the giveaway then all of your entries will be void. Doing the Daily entries will increase your chance of winning. Winners have 72 hours to respond to the notification email!

Bodies Revealed is at OdySea in the Desert!

**This was not a paid post. My husband and I were invited to a media preview night to check this exhibit out before it opened to the public we attended free of charge provided by Bridges Media PR. however my honest opinions were used. The opinions expressed below are solely my own & they may vary from others.**

Have you heard of Bodies Revealed? No? well you are about to learn what it is and what it is about. Bodies Revealed is a traveling exhibit that goes from state to state to show the public a interesting and in depth look at how the body works and what is inside of us. Bodies Revealed is currently set up on the second story of OdySea in the Desert near the OdySea Aquarium, they opened on May 12th and will be here until Next May.

I wanted to note this review won't have as many photos as my reviews normally do, this exhibit does not allow photography inside of the exhibit and yes that included those who were there for the media night so the image above I pulled from the stock of Bodies Revealed photos on google.

Everything you see at Bodies Revealed is real, every last body, organ, heart, etc is real. It takes the team behind Bodies Revealed one week to one year to get each specimen ready for show. They have so many different things to see it was unbelievable some of the ways they were able to display the specimens to show how everything lays in the body. There were a few things that might make a few people feel a little uneasy otherwise everything is pretty fascinating seeing exactly how many different working and moving parts you have inside of you.

The exhibit was significantly larger than I thought it was going to be, it seemed to go on for quite some time and they had everything spaced out well so you aren't running into people while trying to take in everything. They also have several organs and even brains that show cancer and other health related issues. I don't want to give away too much of the exhibit so I will leave it off here and tell you to go see what it is all about. Tickets are $19.95 per adult and $14.95 per child or you can buy combo tickets that include one of the other attractions located inside of OdySea in the Desert.

MouthWatchers ToothBrush Review!

**This was not a paid post. The products mentioned below have been provided by MouthWatchers  for the review free of charge however my honest opinions were used. The opinions expressed below are solely my own & they may vary from others.**

Did you know it is recommended to replace your tooth brush every 3-4 months due to a variety of factors? I do replace our tooth brushes often however I am closer to the 5ish month mark as no one in my family brushes their teeth aggressively enough to break the bristles on the brush. This time around my husband and I replaced our normal toothbrush with a brush from a company called MouthWatchers.

So what sets MouthWatchers apart from what you can pick up at the store? This brush offers a  unique combination of antimicrobial and dual layered flossing bristles which give you a deep clean feeling. What is a flossing bristle? It is a long, soft dental floss for cleaning between teeth and in hard to reach locations, you can see both the antimicrobial and flossing bristles in the photo below.

The bristles look a little scary because you can see all the small flossing bristles sticking out everywhere but they are all actually quite soft. I personally loved this toothbrush as soon as I used it, I could feel where the longer bristles were getting into spaces of my teeth that my regular toothbrush was missing. My teeth felt super clean after using this brush, I could feel where it made a difference where some of my teeth are closer together and it seemed to do it in half the time my normal toothbrush did. I've been using this toothbrush daily for about a week now and I look forward to using it every time because I know my mouth will feel great after using it.

My husband is a big fan of this brush as well, he has a few issues with his teeth especially when it comes to sensitivity and this brush didn't give him any issues. He agreed that during the first use it felt a little odd because you could tell the difference between this brush and a normal brush but you get used to feeling the brush cleaning the deeper spots the more you use it. Their brushes generally run about $4.99 each and you can buy a year supplies which will get dropped off one package at a time every three months.

Starbucks & Ulta Gift Card Giveaway!

Hey Everyone! I have a fun new giveaway for you that includes two of my favorite things, makeup and coffee. 💜 But before we get to the giveaway I have a few things I wanted to share. I recently celebrated my birthday on the 6th, I had a lovely birthday weekend. I spent Saturday running around doing birthday things with a good friend of mine who is also a May baby, and I stopped by a local rescue to drop off a big box of canned cat food plus I managed to find a abuse shelter close to me to donate some clothing I've been piling up to donate so that made me pretty happy. Sunday was spent with my family, relaxing and playing some board games (Catan & X-men!) . While we are speaking of birthdays I will have a post up soon highlighting several places that offer birthday freebies and I'll let you know how to get them as well!

In other news I recently recorded my first unboxing video which I was super nervous about but I don't think it came out that bad so I am excited to get it up (coming soon!). Plus I have many other giveaways on their way including the giveaway I try to hold monthly where I giveaway a book and beauty goodies, this month since it is my birthday there will be an extra book plus some other goodies not normally included in this giveaway. I am trying to figure out a new name for the giveaway as I had just been calling it my monthly book and beauty giveaway but it isn't that catchy, I was thinking possibly The Beauty & The Book Giveaway or The Beautiful Bookworm, but I can't make up my mind.

To all the mama's out there I wish you all a early Happy Mother's Day, although at times it may not feel like due to tantrum weeks, not being able to catch a break, etc you are all amazing strong and beautiful women and I hope you have a great Mother's Day weekend.

BugBand Mosquito Repellent Review & Giveaway!

**This was not a paid post. The products mentioned below have been provided by BugBand for the review & giveaway free of charge however my honest opinions were used. The opinions expressed below are solely my own & they may vary from others.**

The weather is heating up here in Arizona which means it is time for us to start camping again! We generally don't go camping when it is colder because the nights are unbearable and it seems like you'll never warm up and having to crawl out into the night to use the bathroom is the worst. Sadly the warmer summers months also means Mosquito's will start their mission for blood.

No one wants to leave a BBQ covered in mosquito bites or wake up while camping to find they are covered in mosquito bites. We are always sure to bring bug repellent with us but some of them have such a harsh smell it is almost difficult to be around.

I recently received the chance to work with the company BugBand on a review of their Deet-free mosquito repellents. I was sent their Family pack which contains a container of jumbo towelettes, a pack of individually wrapped towelettes, a 6oz insect repellent spray lotion along with a 3oz spray lotion. The lotion actually doesn't smell bad and has an almost pleasant smell, it has some citrus tones to it along with a citronella scent. I found the lotion to be more of a spray as it came out more of a liquid than you would expect in a lotion but it spread evenly and will help you cover a larger area of skin in one application.

I think the towelettes are pretty neat as well, it is the first time I've ever used a product like this and I like that the towelettes weren't soaked with the repellent. The smell isn't over whelming and the product is easy to use, I am looking forward to using the spray on lotion and the towelettes on our next camping trip.

I also received a set of bug bands which is a bracelet that can be worn to repel the nasty bugs! They do have a bit of a stronger scent than the lotion and towelettes but it isn't that bad. I like that they each come with their own little container because you can put it back inside of it when you are done and use it until the scent is gone. The bracelets have slots that make them adjustable so kids all the way up to adults can wear them, plus they come in assorted colors such as the glow in the dark band I am wearing above so everyone can pick out a color they like. All of their product states that it repels not only mosquitoes but it also repels flies, gnats, no-see-ums, fleas and ticks which are all pests that I don't want any where near me so it makes these products even better.

PRIZE ALERT:
Only Lucky Reader is going to win their own Family Pack.

This is open to US Residents!! Please remember if you DO NOT leave a comment on this blog post as your mandatory entry into the giveaway then all of your entries will be void. Doing the Daily entries will increase your chance of winning. Winners have 72 hours to respond to the notification email!

Don't Ever Look Behind Door 32 Book Review!

**This was not a paid post. The products mentioned below have been provided by Tale Blade Press for the review & giveaway free of charge however my honest opinions were used. The opinions expressed below are solely my own & they may vary from others.**

When ever I get a chance to review a new book I find it hard to refuse because I love reading and my kids have picked up the habit as well. I was recently offered a chance to review a book called "Don't Ever Look Behind Door 32" written by B.C.R Fegan, Illustrated by Lenny Wen and right away I knew it would be a perfect fit for my kids based off the cover alone. (Yes, I judged a book by its cover!)

From start to finish I am a big fan of this book, it is about a hotel called The Magical Hotel of Hoo and it's only rule, don't look behind door number 32.  Each room hosts a different guest and the book features dozens of different creature species all show cased with charming and whimsical illustrations. The book may be packed with different magical creatures which may seem like it would be a darker kids book but it is actually quite calming and fun.

There is quite a bit of rhyming in the book that adds to the whimsical feel of the book which ties together nicely with the illustrations through out. My personal favorite room is room 21 which hosts a group of adorably cute wingless dragons. At the end of the book they do let you take a peek at what is inside door 32, but I won't be sharing that with you here because why ruin the fun?

I'd say this would be a decent book for any age including beginning readers because aside from "contemplate" "queue" and possibly "fidgety" everything is in pretty simple and easy to read terms. This book also makes for a great bed time story for kids because it is just the right length, not too long and not too short so your child will feel like they received the perfect amount of reading time before bed. Both my five year old and nine year old love this book, I could read this book over and over again without it growing old because of how well written everything is and how sweet all the characters are.

You can purchase this book Here.

PRIZE ALERT:
2 Lucky winners are going to receive a copy of this book!

Zedtown Event Review!

**This was not a paid post. My honest opinions are used (both good and bad), they are solely my own & they may vary from others. I received four passes to the event for promotional purposes. It was provided by Zedtown for the review free of charge.**

It's no secret that zombies have become increasingly popular over the last several years, from video games to TV shows it seems like almost everyone loves something that has to do with zombies. Now you can add a live action zombie hunting game to the list of zombie themed fun. Zedtown is a mixture of tag using Nerf guns, the color run/ a live action Call of Duty game and LARPing, the whole thing was a blast and a half and was an experience unlike anything I've ever done before.

Zedtown originated in Australia but has been hitting various cities across the US for one to two days per stop, when they came through Arizona they set up shop at Rawhide which is a old western themed attraction we have here that has plenty of open space for a game like this. They have two ticket options for purchase, which are survivor tickets and Alpha zombie tickets. The event lasts for four hours from start to finish and there are several easy to follow rules in place to keep everyone safe such as only allowing certain Nerf gun ammo, being asked not to shoot anyone directly in the face and more. In total there were about 550 people at the event on the Saturday we attended (including staff), only 16 of them started off as Zombies!

Survivors need to bring Nerf guns or rolled up socks (used like bombs/grenades) to use to defeat the zombies who will be running around, when you arrive to the event you meet up with your faction color and download the Zedtown app which sends you missions and information during the event. Not only do the survivors have to fend off zombies but they also have to face each other! There are three factions in total, Red, Gold and Blue all of which have their own leader and will do different missions such as collecting gas to fuel their generators. Before heading to Zedtown you have the option to dress up based off of the suggestions given for the faction, for example the Red faction can dress like Mad Max or Borderlands characters while the gold faction can dress like Hunger games characters. If you do decide to dress up there is a costume contest at the end.

For those who purchase Alpha Zombie tickets, you arrive early and get treated to a seat in the makeup chair while a makeup artist transforms you into a zombie! Our group was split on how we wanted to start out, my husband and I started off as Zombies and the rest of our group went as survivors. Since we saw they were having a costume contest my husband wanted to dress up as a charger which is a character from the video game Left For Dead, we've done the costume in the past before but this time we ramped it up and fixed a few things on it making it better than before. I decided I would get my makeup done at the event instead of doing it at home so that I could see what their process was like.

My Thoughts;

I was honestly a little worried about the event at first, I am a big baby and sometimes my anxiety gets the best of me so I was worried about being split off from the rest of my group. However once everything got started I was perfectly fine and had a wonderful time. When we first arrived we made sure to get there early so I could get my makeup done. It was neat arrive early because several of the people who had arrived at the same time we did were checking out my husbands costume and asking for photos. They had several security measures in place to keep everything fun and safe, We went through a decent check in process where they used the metal detector wands, did bag checks, nerf gun checks and more. After getting through the checks my husband and I were directed to the zombie area where all the zombies would stay out of site until the event started.

The makeup process was fun although I wish they were doing it in a better lit room as the poor lighting made it hard to see and photograph in the room. Makeup wise I was quite happy with my makeup, the process was longer than I had expected it to be which is nice since Alpha Zombie tickets cost more than survivor tickets. Prior to the event I had thought there would be more zombies starting off so I figured it out be a five minute makeup process but it ended up being closer to a half hour. Once all the zombies were transformed we had to wait until the start of the game before wandering out so no one would see us, during the waiting time they ran down the rules and how to turn survivors into zombies. Like the survivors the zombies also had someone leading us and helping us along the way, they were both known as the Boss Zombies and were unable to be "killed" in the game.

They had gathered all the survivors into the middle of the western town so the mayor could make an announcement and tell everyone the rules of the game, towards the end of the instructions they opened up a gate which is when all of us dressed as zombies ran out. As soon as you started running out a adrenaline rush hit, all of the survivors started screaming and running to get away from the zombies and head to their faction head quarters. During the initial zombie release several people had dropped their nerf gums, ammo and more trying to run away and many others ended up falling and tripping trying to get away it was a bit chaotic but a lot of fun and resulted in several good laughs.

During the course of the game survivors were given tasks which took them through the other factions territories and of course near the zombies so they had to watch their backs constantly. It was a lot of fun being a zombie because you were able to hide and chase after people to "tag" them as a zombie, once you tagged someone they gave you their Zedtown dogtags (given to them at the start of the game) for you to scan and turn them into a zombie on the Zedtown app. After being turned into a zombie they were instructed to go to the zombie hub to thrown on some zombie makeup and re-enter the game as a zombie. Remember how I said at the start that we started out with 16 zombies (18 if you include the two boss zombies) and almost 500 survivors? Only about sixty people made it out alive as survivors by the end, some of the aplha zombies were pretty fast and racked up a lot of "kills".

As a zombie if you were shot and killed you had to return to the zombie hub and wait to re-spawn in the game. They had a small station set up that had a count down and music that would play, once the time and music stopped you re-entered the western town to hunt for more survivors. To keep track of who was who they gave everyone colored headbands, green meant you were a zombie. We were required to wear the headbands during the entire event and if we were shot we had to lower the headband to let the survivors know we were out and needed to re-spawn.

This event was one of the best events I've been to, everything was well thought out and executed. If you didn't bring a bag to carry your Nerf guns in after you were turned into a zombie they had a bag check area where you could store your guns, they also had paramedics on hand, water coolers out for everyone and marshals walking around to help anyone with questions or problems. The only thing we had a boo moment with was my husband was a bit disappointed zombies weren't included in the costume contest, but I can see why they wouldn't because most who are arriving as zombies don't do their own makeup. I am a bit jealous of the people who get to work with and travel with Zedtown it seems like a fun place to work. There is a ton of information that goes with this event but not enough space to write about it all! If you want more information on this event or to see if it is coming to a town near you (or you can request that they do) check out their website and facebook for photos, information and more.
