Creepy Crate August/September!

Guess who recently received their August/September Creepy Crate? Me! That's who. If you've been a reader of mine for a while you are very familiar with Creepy Crate by now & if you are new to my blog let me tell you what Creepy Crate is. Creepy Crate is a true crime & horror themed bi-monthly subscription box, boxes can include clothing, household goods & more plus they always come with one physical book + one digital book. Each crate typically has five or six physical items alongside one digital gift, you can purchase a single box for $39.99 or subscribe for 3 to 6 boxes at a time to receive a bit of a discount on the boxes.

I've seen a lot of horror movies & I've read through quite a few cold cases in the past, but there is so much out there that there is still plenty to discover. That is one of my favorite things about this crate is that you will often find a mixture of themes you are familiar with and new thing to discover.

This months
physical book is "Number One Fan" by Meg Elison, some crates could have also received "They Drown Our Daughter" by Katrina Monroe instead. The copy of number one fan is actually a copy that is a uncorrected proof & is not available for sale, which means it could be slightly different from the final print and that there won't be a huge number of people who own this version. The digital book included in this months crate is a book called "Knife Fight" by David Nickle.

The first item to pop out of the box as it is the largest & was right on top is a
Frisbee that reads "Bates High School Class of '76" which is a souvenir inspired item from the movie Carrie. Carrie 1 & 2 were some of the first horror movies I watched & I have always enjoyed them so this was a neat item to receive in the crate. We will keep it with our park/camping stuff to use when we go out. The second largest item in this box is a 'Salem's Lot' water bottle.

Also included in this crate is a car shaped
eraser in the form of a 1958 Plymouth Fury which is the eveil car itself in the movie 'Christine'. A sew on patch shaped like a gravestone that reads "George Stark 1985-1991 Not a very nice guy", this was one I wasn't familiar with as I haven't read a large majority of Stephen King's work, but when I looked it up, I was surprised by the crazy tale I found. You can also read it here if you'd like. Last but not least is a fun Castle Rock keychain! I loved the first season, but I have been slacking and need to watch the second season to see what happens.

Is there a product in this month's crate that stands out as your favorite? What is a horror movie or a true crime you'd want a keep sake of?

Make a giftable handprint stone with Horizon Group USA!

My kids have always loved working on craft projects & doing hands on learning which is why we love being part of the review team for Horizon Group USA! Once every few months they send us a box with a few goodies in it to try out and share with our readers. Today I want to share the sand dough mold your own handprint stone from their Made By Me! Line. It can be bought on amazon for $7.99, or you can find some of their products in stores like Target, Walmart, Michaels & More.

This kit has everything included that you need to create one handprint stone. It is recommended for ages six to nine, however with help smaller children would be able to use this as well and it is big enough for an adult to make a handprint as well. The dough comes in a pre-made block so there is no need to mix anything, your child will simply need to open the package & smooth the dough mixture out into the round mold. After smoothing it out into the mold they can make their hand imprint then leave it to dry for 12 hours. Once the 12 hours pass you will need to flip it over & remove the mold letting it dry for another 12 hours before it is ready to be painted.

I did notice that the dough was still slightly flimsy after two days of it air drying, but I am hoping that over time it will continue to harden a bit. The paint included in the kit looks great, some paints are thin and will soak into a project leaving you having to add multiple layers, this wasn't like that and only needed a coat. There will be extra paint left over so you can always save it for another project, we also liked that the mold doubled as a rinse cup for the paint brush. Once it dries completely you can add a hanger onto the back so you can display it on the wall, or prior to painting this before the drying stage you can use a straw to make a small punch out a ribbon can fit into for hanging purposes.

You can check out their website or their amazon store to see all of the awesome products they sell.

Jax's Monster Snack Mix!

A great snack idea to have on hand whether you are at home or on the go is trail mix. There are tons of different trail mixtures so it is easy to find one you love, and there are always new mixes popping up to try. We recently received a box of original Monster Snack Mix from a company called Jax's to try out. This trail mix is natural, gluten-free and peanut-free, it's a mix of simple ingredients makes for a healthy, delicious snack.

The snack mix has a combination of chocolate covered sunflower seeds, sesame sticks, coconut chips along with a dried fruit mixture of pineapple, mango & papaya. Through their website you can buy three boxes which comes with a total of fifteen individual packages for $15 which means they are just $1 per packet. Each packet has 1oz of Monster mix in it, which might not seem like a lot, however it is just the right amount of snackage. The amount in the bowl shown in the image above/below came from one singular packet.

I am not a big fan of coconut chips so I picked those out of mine, but I really loved the rest of the mixture. My son was on the same page, he'd love a mix that didn't have the coconut chips but still had everything else. We all enjoy the sesame sticks & were happy to see them included. The Monster mix is filling & helps satisfy your sweet tooth. So if you are looking for a healthy snack, check this brand out! I also included one of the packets in this months Beauty & The Book giveaway so the winner can try it out as well.

Did you know the Elegear Arc-Chill blanket can help cool you down while you sleep?

I am the type of person that no matter what the temperature outside is, I like sleeping with my blanket. Even in the summer when it is warmer out, I might not have it completely over me, but it will be by my side usually over at least part of my body (it's a security thing). So, when I was asked to review the Elegear Cooling blanket that is supposed to help cool you down, I was intrigued & wanted to see if it actually works. Blankets are supposed to keep you warm, not cool you down so I was skeptical it would work as was my husband.

I was very surprised when I tried this out because you can instantly feel that it helps cool your body down. Shortly after I received this for a review, I put it over my husband when he was sitting in his chair & he was surprised by it too. We both mentioned that you could instantly feel the change, it isn't something that happens gradually. Later that night he had gone to bed before I did & when I went into the room, he had stolen the blanket and was wrapped up in it! Later that night he became a little too chilly between the blanket and the fans being on and gave me the blanket back.

This Japanese Arc-chill cooling blanket comes in an assortment of sizes, they have two blankets that have a ocean theme which can be purchased in either Grey or Blue. We received the grey blanket in King size which retails for $54 on amazon. However, you can get 10% off by using code UOKQ9UL8   expire date: 2027-12-31. I do want to note ours smelled a little odd when we first opened it, so I washed it before we used it. It should be noted you are supposed to hang/air dry this blanket, I was impatient & decided to put it on a light cycle in the dryer and I can see why you would want to air dry this because it got super tangled up, I was able to untangle it though and the blanket is alright. Since this was delivered either myself or my husband have used this every night & I've even used it on the sofa once or twice. If you are a warm sleeper or live somewhere it stays warm at night, then you should check out this blanket. Elegear sells an assortment of other blanket & blanket styles as well so check out their shop page on amazon.

September Beauty & The Book Giveaway!

As you may have noticed last month there was no Beauty & the book giveaway and I wasn't online to blog a lot. My daughter had a spinal fusion last month which was followed by a stay in the children's hospital. I had planned to do a bit of blog work while I stayed with her in the hospital, however their wifi wasn't great and I also was helping out when the nurses & my daughter needed so we just used the time to relax together and watch some movies. Once home it was a slight adjustment period as she was still in some pain/discomfort from the surgery. She is doing a lot better now & things have slowed down with appointments and other things in our life so you'll see me back catching up on posts. So please stop by & show my posts on my social media channels some love as I get back into my normal routine.

It is September! That means the holidays are coming, I love both Halloween & Christmas, so I always look forward to both. I've already started looking around at the new Halloween products being put out this year, there are a few things I really want to hunt down but can't seem to find. My home has kind of an Addams Family vibe to it year-round so I enjoy fall as it means I get to find some new home decor items. Have you found any fall or Halloween themed items you've picked up already? Next month I will be making the Beauty & The Book giveaway Halloween themed of course and will include a few items like those little spooky themed glitters from Target. I am also excited because it will be chilly season soon, I love the cooler weather because we are able to get out and hike, camp and explore outdoors without melting.

This month doesn't have a specific theme, but when I was done putting it together, I found it leans more towards the skincare side than makeup so you could consider it a self-care bundle.

Here is what is included in this month's giveaway:

💙 Soft cover of Winds of Marque

Creepy Crate June/July Crate!

I always have a spooktastic time when my Creepy Crate arrives. Being someone who has always enjoyed spooky & horror themed books, movies and more these crates are perfect for me.

I have received several Creepy Crates in the past & I haven't had any major issues with any of my boxes. I only had a small issue with one box where a plastic cup smelled a bit funky. If you'd like to see what they had in previous boxes or read some of my other review, you can type in "Creepy Crate" in the search bar of my blog to see the other posts. Let's dig into what was in the latest crate I received.

The two books included was a physical copy of Helltown by Casey Sherman. It is a true crime novel based off of the Cape Cod serial killer in the 1960's. Also included was a digital copy of The Spirit Wood, which is a horror fantasy about a women in the woods.

Another true crime item included in this box is the shirt featuring the Hex Hallow house, a real house in Stewartstown, Pennsylvania that was the center of a true crime in the 1920's. Prior to seeing this box I did not know what the Hex Hallow house was. This is part of the reason I enjoy these boxes is because I often find new stories or movies I didn't know about & are crazy to learn about. In this particular case a townsfolk was convinced their new neighbor had put a curse on them and it all went to hell from there.

Also included was a cute small green yarn voodoo doll keychain which reminds me of the game Unravel 2 which features small yarn creatures as the playable characters. Growing up I always enjoyed watching the Final Destination movies, although like many I still refuse to drive behind or too close to trucks carrying lumber, metal poles, etc because of this movie! So it was nice to see a luggage tag included based off a plane crash in the movies breifly shown at the end of the first movie & shown in Final Destination 5.

This box came with a Ghost hunt weekend voucher which sounds like it would be an interesting experience to take place in, but sadly all of the opportunities & tours they offer are all based on the East coast so I don't think I will get any use out of this. Sometimes the items in the box can be a hit or miss as it is with any subscription box and that is okay with me because I always know someone else who would be more than happy to receive what ever it is that I don't like. Last but not least was a curse of king tut hand fan, this is a nice sturdy hand fan that looks nice, my daughter enjoys how it looks so it is now her fan.

What is your favorite item included in this box? For all of these who love Halloween & Spooky things, have you bought anything fun at the store lately?
