The Lotsa Style Mini Wastebasket is perfect for vanities!

We could use a little extra room in our bedroom, with how everything is set up there isn't really any extra room to put a trash can next to the bed, but now I don't have to worry about it. Lotsa Style sells a really cute mini wastebasket trash can (or you could use it as a makeup brush holder) that fits perfectly on your desk, vanity or bedside table.

The mini wastebasket comes in two pieces an inner piece that holds the trash and a  decorative outside that holds the mini trash bags in place. It came with three rolls of trash bags so you don't have to worry about getting any for a while, but when you do run out the dollar store sells mini wastebasket bags that would work perfectly. I decided to place my mini wastebasket on my bedside table. I keep a pack of face wipes in my bedside drawer and every night before bed (and in the morning) I use one of the face wipes to feel refreshed and help remove any oil build up from the day. Instead of needing to go into the bathroom to throw out my face wipes I can just put them in this little wastebasket.

The miniwaste basket actually holds a pretty decent amount, I've had it on my desk for about a week now and have thrown out dryer sheets from when I do the laundry, face wipes, and more and the can is only about half full. This wastebasket would be perfect on a vanity or even an office desk.

Keep your skin smooth with Ceramedx!

Arizona summers can normally get pretty hot and dry, but this year we've been having more excessive heat warnings than normal, which can leave your skin feeling dry, flaky and even itchy. I always drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, but I also try to remind myself to put on lotion daily. I am a bit picky about the lotion I used, I don't like lotions that leave your hands and skin feeling greasy, or lotions that don't absorb into the skin properly. I was recently sent a bottle of Restoring Body Lotion from Ceramedx to test out and I've been enjoying it quite a bit.

The Ceramedx restoring body lotion is fragrance-free it is also paraben-free,cruelty-free,gluten-free, has Non GMO and it's Vegan! Plus it is PH balanced, made from Ceramedx's riceramide 3 blend of plant based ceramides. It comes in a 12oz bottle which sells for $14.99.

This lotion comes out of the bottle feeling a little thick, which normally I try to avoid because it doesn't spread or absorb well, however I was quite surprised at how well it spread out across the skin and vanished. My skin and hands weren't left feeling greasy or oily and I instantly felt the relief it gave my skin. I like that you don't need a ton of lotion in order to cover the area you are applying it to. My skin felt cooler, moisturized and it helped add more towards how soft my skin normally is. Along with the restoring body lotion Ceramedx also sells extra gentle cleanser and ultra moisturizing cream all of which have been clinically tested and are dermatologist recommended. If you want to test out their products without having to fully commit to buying full sized bottles they offer a sample pack that comes with samples of all three products for $1.99. (next month's Beauty & the book giveaway will include one of these sample packs).

Decorate goodies with Gramma In A Box!

Some of my favorite memories with my great-grandmother are of us in the kitchen baking and cooking. Every winter during the holidays her kitchen turned into a bakery filled with tins and tins of cookies that we baked for family members and friends, it always smelled so good in her house during the holidays. I am very thankful that we live close to my mother so that my children can create their own memories with their grandmother. However not everyone is fortunate to live as close to their families so their children might not get to spend as much time with their grandparents as they'd like. One grandmother named Terry came up with a way to still spend quality time with her grandchildren even though they moved away.

What was her solution? She still wanted to be able to create these memories with her grandchildren so she would come up with fun cookie/treat ideas she could do with them. She would pack up a box filled with plain sugar cookies, frosting, decorations and more to send her her grandchildren then she would chat with them via Skype while they worked on their cookies. After telling some friends about it, it has now become a full time business called Gramma In A Box!

I recently received their August box which featured Beach party treats, each box comes with three fun projects to do with your children or grandchildren and all of the supplies you need are included in the box. There are enough supplies in the box for several children and an adult to participate with easy to follow instructions. Our box included projects to do Goldfish Bowls, Seashell Pretzels and Sea Life cookies. I like how everything was packaged and made to be as easy to do as possible.

The first project we worked on was the Goldfish bowls shown above. This project required; Melting chocolate, goldfish, marshmallows and graham cracker dust. The melting chocolate does require an adult to melt in the microwave otherwise everything is ready to go, you dip the marshmallow in the chocolate to make it look like the water in the bowl, then roll it in the graham cracker crust to look like the sand, add a goldfish and let set. After the chocolate has set you can eat your fishbowls.

The second project used the second half of the melting chocolate to create chocolate dipped seashell pretzels. After dipping each pretzel into the chocolate, you get to add a chocolate seashell and some pearl sprinkles that look like bubbles. Both of these projects were fun to create, however we didn't quite like the taste of the melting chocolate itself but that is due to the company who makes the chocolate not Gramma in a box. Otherwise we enjoyed both of these projects, and thought they turned out pretty cute. You can do all three projects at once or you can space them out a bit to make the fun of the box last a bit longer. My children had a blast with this box, they love baking and cooking so this box was right up their alley, after we were finished they asked if we were going to get another box like this.

Last but not least was the Sea Life Cookies which we all had a blast with. The box included three colors frostings plus several decorating supplies that the kids really enjoyed using. I like that the decorating frosting was already in easy to use decorating bags, you just needed to cut a bit of the tip off before using it. The box came with eight sugar cookies to decorate, four of them were fish, two were seashells and two were starfish. I decided to decorate one with the kids as well and decorated the fish with the heart shaped eye above for my husband to eat. The sugar cookies were so good, and the decorations were not overly full of sugar which was nice.

You can purchase a singular box to try out or you can purchase a 3,6,or 12 month subscription and automatically at the start of each month your box will be shipped out. In total there are enough goodies in the box to create 15 to 20 finished items (each cookie counts as a finished item). A single box is $20 or if you buy a subscription the price lowers a bit depending on which subscription you purchase. If you are a new subscriber you need to place an order before the 3rd of each month in order to receive that month's box. This subscription service is only available in the US. During the holidays there are holiday themed items in the box which adds to the fun of the box.

Three new adventures with Candlewick Press.

We are a family of book lovers, I am always picking up new books for the kids and myself, and we also visit the library once every other week. Any time we get the chance to review new books with Candlewick Press we always jump on it and wait patiently for our box of books to arrive. This time around I have three great new books to share with you!

What Does an Anteater Eat? - (Hardcover. Retail Value $16.99)

This is a fun and silly book to read with your children, the book follows along with an Anteater who is trying to figure out what he eats. On his journey he asks several different animals if they know what an Anteater eats, several of them suggest he eats what they do and it doesn't really work out. Towards the end of the book the last group of animals he asks this question to is a colony of ants that take off running as soon as they see him. While I do think this was a cute read and it had strong illustrations with vibrant coloring, I was left wondering why he didn't know what he ate in the first place, and if he ever found out what he really eats.

How to Be on the Moon - (Hardcover. Retail Value $16.99)

This book follows two best friends on their quest to reach the moon. Anna and her best friend Crocodile worth together to practice the skills they need in order to reach the moon. Patience is a needed skill for a long trip, so they practice having patience since they know it will be a long trip, they also work on other helpful skills together which is sweet to see. After building a rocket ship themselves they embark on a trip to the moon. I enjoyed that quite a few of the illustrations had grey tones for the background image and bright colors for the characters themselves which I enjoyed.

Firefly Home -  (Hardcover. Retail Value $14.99)

Florence the firefly is lost and looking for her home. In order to find her home she follows the bright lights that she sees thinking they are her family, but she finds that they aren't what she thought. My kids both enjoyed reading this book and loved Florence! I enjoyed the book itself as a whole because it was a cute adventure but I also enjoyed it because it reminded me of when I was really young and lived back east, because I used to catch fireflies all the time.

Which of these three books looks the most interesting to you? Do you have a bookworm who would love these books?

Come explore the Children's Museum of Phoenix.

If you live in or around the Phoenix,Arizona area and have small children I highly suggest heading to downtown Phoenix to spend a day at the Children's Museum of Phoenix for a day of fun and adventure. The museum is located inside of the historic Monroe School building found on the south east corner of 7th street and Van Buren, parking is free and found on property so there is no need to park in one of the downtown parking garages. I've always thought this school building was gorgeous so I am glad it wasn't torn down and instead turned into something new, so I think it adds to why I love visiting the museum so much. The museum is filled with three floors of fun for you and your children, their goal is to engage your child's imagination during their visit. Several of the locations allow the parents to interact with their children as well which is nice for parents who want a hands on experience with their kids at the museum.

I was recently invited to join the PLAYfluencer program at the museum, so over the course of the next several month's I will be sharing highlights of the different areas of the museum along with special events and activities they offer for your children. The museum is geared towards children ages 1-10 however I think that you could go a year or two past that as well with a few of their offered programs, any older than that and I don't think they would be able to do much, as most of the museum is geared more towards the younger children. There is a ton of museum to cover so for my first feature I am going to discuss just the first floor with you/entry area with you.

When you first walk through the museum doors you are greeting by the front desk area and the gift shop, taking a left takes you into the start of the museum. You are instantly greeted by a play area and a giant play structure that children (and adults) are allowed to explore, they even have a small gated off area located near the bottom designed for babies who aren't able to fully explore on their own yet. You can also find one of my favorite features of the museum when you first walk in which is a giant wall decorated with dozens of old CD's/DVD's which look quite pretty with the light reflecting off of them.

The whole play structure is quite imaginative, in one spot you'll feel like you are in the sea when you are near all the sea creature decorations, and in another spot you're in a winged bathtub! Where else are you able to hang out in a "flying" bathtub? The structure is also quite large it reaches all the way up to the top floor, so when you are at the top you can say hi to everyone on the way up. Around the base of the climbing structure you'll find several piles of building blocks ranging in size along with some other hands on activities.

For the parents who don't want to play on the structure there are several places to sit while keeping an eye on your children. This front entry area has a long hall way that offers lockers for your belongings, a restroom area and a eating area for kids visiting on school trips. You'll also find an elevator, a large stair case that takes you up to the next floor and a photobooth for anyone wanting to snap a few photos. (this costs extra, it is the type you typically find in the mall). The museum is open Tuesday-Sunday from 9am-4pm, Admission is $14.95 per person or you can purchase a membership and visit as often as you'd like for free. (They do offer senior discounts and babies 1 and under are free).

Treat your pet to Raw Paws Pet Foods!

When I am presented with opportunities to review pet products I can never say no! When it comes to the pets in our family they are just as spoiled as the kids are. The two dogs at my mothers house love when I bring goodies over for them! (one of the dogs is mine but lives at her house). I recently received two wonderful pet products from a company called Raw Paws Pet Food and our pets can't get enough of them.

I wasn't sure exactly what to pick to review so instead of selecting something myself, I provided them with a bit of information on the two family dogs. They did a wonderful job selecting two great products suited for our pets, as an added bonus not only did the dogs get a treat but the cat was able to share in the joy as well.

The first product in our package was a bag of Raw Paws Freeze Dried Chicken Pet treats, like most pet foods the smell is a little off but then again it isn't supposed to be appealing to us! This product was sent because the oldest dog at my mothers house is elderly and has stomach issues so this is something that is soft and easy for him to eat. He highly enjoyed these treats (sorry I didn't get a picture, he is old and grumpy so getting photos isn't always easy) and our cat loves these treats as well. He drools while he is eating this because he enjoys it so much, You can see the wet spots on the floor in the image above where he was drooling a bit trying to eat the food as quickly as he could. A 4oz bag can be purchased for $14.99 on their website, depending on the how much you give your cat/dog this bag should last a little while.

We also received a two pack of Jumbo 6" Bully sticks for Sulley Monster. He typically goes through chew toys quickly so treats like this are ideal as they last a bit longer. He enjoyed chewing on this for a few days before it was gone. They came in a re-seal-able bag which is nice because it keeps the other stick fresh until we are ready to give it to him. You can purchase a two back of bully sticks for $15.99 on their website! Both of these products seem like they are high quality and made with love for the pets they are delivered to, if you are a pet owner I suggest checking out their products.

Do you have any pets? What kind of treats or toys do you like to spoil them with?

The Pawed Piper Review & Giveaway!

The Pawed Piper is a wonderful book for young and old cat lovers alike, this sweet story follows along with a little girl who wishes she had a cat like her grandmother does. The little girl seeks out advice on what cats like the most and she sets up a cat wonderland in her room filled with boxes, cat nip and more then she sits and waits to see if a cat will come.

Much to her surprise not only does one cat show up, but dozens of cats show up. She is so excited but realize they all belonged to other people in the neighborhood. Her and her parents work on returning all of the cats to their homes, and in the end all but one cat finds it's way back home. The last cat left has a litter of kittens in the little girl's drawer and they find homes for all but one that the little girl gets to keep.

I thought this book was quite sweet, it reminded me of myself when I was younger. When I was little I loved animals and I was always bringing home cats I'd find around the neighborhood (they'd always go home) so it made me connect with the book more. You can purchase this book for $16.99 on the Candlewick Press website.

Spend an afternoon at the Crescent Moon Picnic Site in Sedona,AZ.

Many people who have never been to Arizona think it is nothing but a big desert full of cactus, however that is far from true! We have many beautiful areas filled with woods, beach like areas near our lakes/rivers and more. Summer can get pretty hot so we spend a lot of time in the water during that time, so over the weekend we decided to take a trip up near Sedona,Arizona to play in Oak Creek. The spot we stopped at was quite lovely so I wanted to share it with those of you who may end up in the area and want a place to explore.

The spot we went is called the Crescent Moon Ranch day use area and it is located at 333 Red Rock Crossing Rd Sedona,AZ 86336. This site boasts gorgeous views of Sedona's red rock formations, it's beautiful trees and it offers a little escape from the blazing heat. This day use area is part of an old historic ranch property so when you visit this park it is tucked away in a small community, so please drive carefully when driving through their neighborhood. It is $11 to get in for a car of up to five people, additional guests are $2 each.

The turn off that takes you into the area that holds Crescent Moon is directly off of the 89A highway, as you are turning onto the road that will take you to your destination you'll get the chance to see the neat sculpture shown above along with some gorgeous views of the scenery. I highly recommenced getting to this location early, this spot along many others in the area have parking lots that are on a first come first serve basis, if the parking lot gets full they have you wait in line until someone leaves which could be an hour or it could be three. We arrived just as the lost spot was being filled, however my step-dad is disabled so they had a handicap spot available that we were able to park in near the bathrooms which was convenient. Bathroom wise, they aren't bad for being a park in the great out doors, they were better maintained than many city park bathrooms I've seen. I do want to note though that there is no sink in the bathroom, outside there is a small water tap you can use to wash your hands or pack some hand wipes/sanitize before you come. Since the property is part of a historic Ranch there are still buildings and more that you can photograph and check out, not far from this area is the actual Crescent Moon Ranch where you can book the cabin to stay in (the cabin is $200 a night). All of the park rangers we encountered were friendly and helpful, you can spot at least two rangers through out the day keeping and eye on the park and helping keep it clean.

Most of the river front spots that are closer to the parking area fill up quickly which is another good reason to get there early, otherwise you'll need to hike back a bit further. There is a decent path through the woods that goes along one of the forks in the creek, though a decent section of it was pretty muddy so sadly my step-dad wasn't able to make it back that far so he hung out near the parking area exploring. The area is kept quite clean, we only noticed a few pieces of trash otherwise everyone has done a wonderful job taking out what they've brought it. The creek had a nice crisp cool to it that was very pleasant on our feet/legs as we played in the water, we had a lot of fun looking at bugs, looking for neat rocks and enjoying some fun in the water under the protection of the shady trees. On one of the forks of the creek there is a large flat area that is covered with a thin layer of algae, it is quite slippery in that area so you'll need to be careful if you decide to venture into that section as many have been spotted slipping in that patch of the river. Other than that area we didn't notice any overly slippery areas, I actually was bare foot in the river for the majority of the time we were exploring and I walked back to the car bare foot as well, the sandy areas felt nice on my feet.

I wish I had taken more photos of the different areas of the creek however my husband took some of our extra bags back to the car so we wouldn't have so much to lug around while we explored so I didn't have my phone or camera on me. If you are looking for more than swimming or getting in the water, there are also hiking trails, and picnic areas to visit. I didn't see or notice a ton of birds or small critters, we did however see some small fish, frogs, crawdads, tons of lizards, a snake (garden snake) and some bugs. Keep in mind you are out in nature, so keep an eye on where you are exploring so you don't run into any of the bad snakes. We stayed at this spot for about three hours before we decided to head out and visit another spot before heading home, on our way out there was a huge line of cars waiting for a parking spot. If you get hungry and didn't bring anything with you, this area is located between Sedona and Cottonwood so you aren't far from plenty of places to eat and shop.

Use less plastic bags with Meori! Review + Giveaway.

Depending on how often you go grocery shopping, I am sure you have a decent pile of plastic bags that you aren't sure what to do with. Sometimes they can be re-used as trash can bags, or bags for dog poop/dirty diapers but a large majority of those bags are just going to get thrown away, which is a huge waste. Some states such as California charge a small fee if you want to use a bag while checking out to help discourage the use of so many plastic bags. An alternative, eco-friendly way to bag your groceries is to use reusable bags! A company called Meori sells a number of reusable bags for a number of uses such as shopping, storage and organization.

Meori was gracious enough to send me one of their Hibiscus foldable grocery baskets in red, plus I will be giving one away as well! This great bag comes with a sturdy enforced bottom that can be removed for easy storing and cleaning, one large inside pocket for all of your goods, a small pocket on the inside and two sets of handles. One set of handles is smaller are on the side, and a secondary set is on the front/back of the bag to make loading in and out of the car easier.

This bag was quite useful while shopping, I put it in the cart right away to store my goods in as I was shopping then emptied it onto the scanning belt so I could re-pack it up after everything was done being scanned. The Hibiscus basket can hold up to 65lbs, and has quite a bit of space for all of your goodies as you can see above. I like that it has a little mesh side pocket on the inside so I can keep the smaller items secure in it and not have to worry about losing anything. This bag is perfect for grocery shopping and I like that I can use it for other things as well such as taking it camping, etc to transport things in. I keep this folded up in the trunk of my car for easy storage and access. So far I haven't have any issues with the bag, no rips or tears of the handles, and the bottom hasn't bent nor has the bag started to show any signs of wear. Want a Hibiscus basket of your own? You can purchase one directly on their site for $29.99 after selecting which of the five cute colors you'd like, and you can enter below to win one.

PRIZE ALERT:
One lucky reader is going to win their own Hibiscus grocery basket!

"Don't Drink the Pink" the newest book from TaleBlade! + A Giveaway!

Some days can be extra stressful making it to where you want to escape to somewhere more relaxing, for most of us we can't simply just up and go so escaping to magical worlds through books is a wonderful alternative. I've always loved reading and picturing different worlds in my head as I read through the stories, and I love that my children have become big book worms as well. I recently received an email with an opportunity to check out the newest book being offered by TaleBlade which is called "Don't Drink the Pink", it was released on August 1st and comes in paper back, hard cover or digitally.

What is the book about? This book follow the special relationship between Madeline and her Grandfather as they share magical memories together on each of Madeline's birthdays. Madeline's grandfather is a chemist/scientist who creates magical potions that allow the drinker to be able to do different things, each year on her birthday she is allowed to choose one potion to try out "but don't drink the pink" and she gets to experience a magical ability for the day.

The book follows along on her crazy adventures all the way up until her fifteenth birthday when she is finally able to see what mysteries the pink potion holds. What secrets could such a small bottle hold? You'll have to read the book to find out, and let me tell you the secret that it held sure surprised me! I thought this book was quite imaginative, each page held an adventure coupled with beautiful illustrations. This book was written by B.C.R. Fegan who also wrote another favorite of ours called Don't ever look behind door 32, you can see our review of that book Here.

Getting a mammogram is important to help catch cancer early!

Most of us probably know someone either directly or indirectly that has suffered from cancer, it is a silent killer, but thankfully in some cases if it is caught earlier enough it can be treated and many have been lucky enough to beat cancer completely. I recently attended a small "Mom's Day Out" event hosted by SimonMed Imaging that focused on women's health. Did you know one 1 out of every 8 women will likely develop breast cancer at some point in her lifetime? however if caught early it will greatly improve chances of survival.

We all generally lead busy lives, between work, family and finding some time to ourselves many aren't able to take an hour or two out of their day to head to their doctors office to get a mammogram. Did you know you don't have to go down to your doctors office and sit in the waiting room and exam room to get your mammogram? Instead you can visit MOM which is the Mobile On-site Mammography bus by SimonMed Imaging. This bus parks at various business locations such as office buildings, malls and more and offers quick and easy mammograms that take 15 minutes or less! I do not recall if it was the same bus, but where I work has actually had a bus like this come to park to allow the employees access to it, which makes getting a mammogram pretty convenient. During the event we had the pleasure of hearing Clare Colombo M.D who is a breast radiologist who works for SimonMed Imaging speak about mammograms the the MOM bus.

Who should get a mammogram? At one point all women should go in for a mammogram, they generally recommend getting your first at age 40. There is an exception to this and that is the "10 year rule", if you have a direct family member such as a aunt, sister, grandmother, etc take the age they got breast cancer into an account and subtract ten years from it. For example if your aunt was diagnosed with cancer at age 42, you should get one done at age 32 to be safe. This rule does not apply for anyone who was diagnosed with cancer in their 20's, as they do not perform mammograms on teenagers. The MOM bus uses 3D imaging to take four quick scans of your chest which are done right inside of the bus. We were given the chance to take a peek inside of the bus, it is quite comfortable it has plenty of seating, a private room for changing, a office area for the staff member, the screening room, and a small bathroom/kitchen area for the staff. The Hologic 3D mammography they use is FDA approved, the exams help reduce callbacks by up to 40%.

Once the imaging is completed you will receive results in about two weeks, if they call you for a call back there is no need to worry! Many times they just want to take a better look at something they are unsure of, some breast have more fat cells than others, and some have more tissues/glands that all look different on the scans so from time to time they might need a better angle on a image to see everything. Those with "dense" breast that are made up of mostly glands should get at least one ultrasound as well for the best results. After your first mammogram they recommend getting one done once a year to keep up on everything.

It is highly recommended that you do a monthly self check whether you are close to the mammogram age or not just to keep an extra eye out for any irregular changes. If you are in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area or the surrounding areas and want to schedule an appointment/find the closest event near you visit the  Mobile On-site Mammography website or call Catherine Midgette at 480-428-5877.

During this event we were also able to hear two other speakers who present information on different aspects of women's health. The first was Lorina Kormos from Derma Health & Lasers, who spoke about different skin treatments, laser hair removals and more. The second was Debra Wickman M.D who is a board certified gynecologist who specializes in sexual health and menopause. Both provided quite a bit of information on their topics and were pleasant to hear speak. Attendees were also given a nice little swag bag by some local sponsors to celebrate Mom!

Disclaimer- I was provided a ticket to the event and the swag bag shown above in exchange for sharing information from the event on women's health. No other product compensation was provided. My honest opinions are used in all reviews, they are solely my own & they may vary from others. This event was hosted at Copper Blues Live located inside Desert Ridge Marketplace in Phoenix,AZ.
