Loving the mini vintage radio speaker from Muzen Audio!

Sometimes when I clean, I like throwing on my Pandora playlist & turning it up loud, it makes the work more fun, and it seems to go by faster. I had a small speaker that connected with an aux cable to my phone, but it is pretty old now and is starting to go out. So, I was very excited when I was offered a chance to review a wireless portable speaker from Muzen Audio. One of the speaker lines they offer look like miniature versions of vintage radios. They have other models as well, But I couldn't resist going with the vintage look, there are two different options you can select from; you can go with a metal radio or a wood radio. I went with the metal radio & requested it in the color black to fit our home decor.

The OTR Metal Wireless portable bluetooth speaker normally has a price point of $139.99 however at the time of writing this (9/9/23), it looks like they are having a 31% off sale. This speaker is three-in-one, you can connect to it via bluetooth, via aux cable or use the radio since this is an actual radio as well. I know the speaker is made out of metal, but it is a lot heavier than I thought it was going to be. Although that is a good thing in my opinion though as it means it will be sturdy & more likely to not be knocked over easily.

The packaging for this speaker made me so happy to unbox! You will receive a tied-up cloth bag inside of a gift bag that says, "Let's Rock & Road" and features a vintage VW bus. Inside of the bag you'll find a miniature version of a vintage luggage bag that contains the speaker, I am going to 100% be re-using the little luggage for something even if it is just to look at. Upon opening the luggage, you will find your new speaker, a charging cord, an aux cord, a plug-in antenna, a user guide & some free stickers. I think everything was packaged beautifully & it kept the speaker safe during its travels. When it is not in use or charging, I have actually been using the luggage case to store the speaker.

The antenna isn't required to be plugged in to listen to the radio, but it will definitely help. I can easily find all of my favorite local radio stations, the dial is fun to use. I do wish it went up slightly louder, but it gets the job done. I like that it doesn't take up a lot of space and it is easy to bring with me on trips.

What color speaker would you want to get?

Circuit Mess DIY STEM for kids!

My kids have always loved hands-on crafts, activities & projects that they can either do by themselves or with their dad & I. So when I was offered the chance to check out one of the DIY STEM projects from a brand called Circuit Mess, I couldn't refuse. We were sent Spencer to put together & do a review on, Spencer is a personal voice assistant that you are able to build & code on your own. Something that is good to know before hand is that some of the kits they have require the use of a soldering tool, if you do not have one they can be picked up at a number of stores locally & for younger children they may need assistance with the project. This specific kit is recommended for ages 11+. We were also gifted one of their shirts which features their Batmobile that you can put together.

Everything you will need for this project aside from the soldering tool & a screwdriver are included in this building kit. It was well packaged so everything arrived safely for us to start working on. There is quite a bit of information packed into the building guide, so you won't find the guide inside of your building box. Instead you will need access to the internet on a phone, tablet or laptop that can be placed near you & is easy to look at during the build. The building guide not only has instructions on how to build Spencer, but it also includes information on all of the tools you will need for this, links to helpful guides and tips on soldering incase you've never had to solder before & more. I found the build guide to be quite detailed & very helpful, they even have plenty of photos in full color for the visual learners.

I think that these kits are great not just for teaching your children practical skills such as coding or using the various tools you will need, but also life skills like patients and staying calm & collected while working with small detailed parts. You can purchase a one time box, or subscribe & you will get a new project to work on every one to three months (depends on your plan). Spencer is part of the STEM box which is for ages 11+, but if that is a little too advanced for your child they also have the Wacky Robots line which is for ages 9+ along with working on two other lines that are for younger children as well. The STEM box is $80 per box & is a once per every three months subscription, the Wacky Robots are $28 a box and are delivery once a month. They also sell bundles which have set prices and show you exactly which buildable you will receive, so if you've had your eye on a particular build of theirs then the bundles might be the right place to look for you.

My husband & Son enjoyed doing this project together, this fun to do together and the end results are something your child will be able to work on, adjust and play with for quite some time to come. They have a number of apps and more available on their websites and guides that will allow you to update and create your Spencer how you would like. With summer coming up these kits are a great way to keep your child's mind engaged & entertained over the summer break. My son is looking forward to checking out all of the various apps Circuit Mess has & playing with his voice assistant more. I think this would be a great subscription as well for adults who want to know more about coding.

Is this something you think your kids will enjoy as well?

Rocking out with Rose Rockers Headphones!

I use headphones frequently during the week, I listen to music while I work out and when I am at work I enjoy either listening to music or watching shows on my phone to help stay awake since I work in a small quiet office. Some headphones can be pretty uncomfortable and hurt your ears after long periods of wear so I wanted something more comfortable. I usually use ear buds that go into your ears but I wanted to try out a pair of over the ears headphones to see if they are a bit more comfortable.

I recently came across a great set of headphones called Rose Rockers, headphones made for women by women. The headphones come in three different colors; Rose - Pink, Violet - Purple & Sky - Blue. This line was created by a woman named Nicole Stillings also known as DJ Rose and the company is 100% woman owned. You can purchase a set of headphones for $98, they can be connected directly to your electronic device or it has bluetooth capability so you can go wireless, plus it has a microphone for phone calls.

The headphones feature Luxe vegan leather with a folding design for easy storage in the drawstring bag it comes with. For a review I selected a pair of headphones in "Sky", I like that the flowers aren't just pure blue instead they have pops of purple, yellow and redish brown inside of the flowers. If needed the headphones can be adjusted and they are actually quite comfortable on your head and around your ears. These headphones are adjustable, I found they were at just the right height for my head so I didn't need to adjust them. They are full sized headphones and adorned with floral decorations, yet they are still light weight so they sit just right over your head. I have naturally wavy/curly hair that is normally a bit puffy, I was a bit worried about how it would look when my hair was down, however I am pretty happy with how they fit and how they look.

I was quite surprised at the sound quality of these headphones, the bass in them sounds amazing after playing some of my favorites I decided to play some techno on them and the sound was perfect. How loud do they get? They can be turned up quite a bit, I plugged these into my MP3 player and I turned my players volume all the way up, the music was sharp, clear and loud without hurting your ears. My ears were comfortable the entire time wearing them, and they are so cute! The first night I tested these out, I was just going to listen to a song or two while trying them out, but I ended up enjoying them so much I played a whole play list while dancing in my room. I haven't tried out the bluetooth part of the headphones yet so I am unsure how easy they connect to a compatible device, but I will update this once I do. I do wish they would eventually offer other color options as well such as rainbow, black and red or just black for those more on the rocker/goth side.

OnandOff Giveaway & Review!

****This was not a paid post and my honest opinion was used. The opinions are solely my own and may vary from others. The products mentioned below have been provided by OnanOff for the review & giveaway free of charge.****

We love spending time together as a family, even if we are wanting to do different things we like being in the same room together. Sometimes this can get pretty noisy so I've been looking into headphones for kids which is when I came upon Onanoff who sells a headphone line for kids called Buddyphones. I was sent the inflight model which includes three modes: Safe flight mode, safe kid mode and safe toddler mode.

My four year old son was slightly bummed the set we received was purple as he was hoping for a green or blue pair but he said he isn't picky and doesn't mind using them anyways. He is such a cute kid! The ear piece has a cushion lining which helps protect your child's ears from being rubbed raw due to the plastic, it also has a small piece of fabric over the speaker to further help protect their ears. On one side of the headphones you will find a knob which allows you to switch between the three settings, I find it is easiest to use my palm to gently push down on the dial to switch it. They are adjustable enough that not only do they fit my four year old perfectly but they fit on my head comfortably as well. It comes with a carry bag, decorative stickers for the side of the headphones,an airplane adapter plus a buddy cable that allows you to dock a second set of headphones to the first so more than one child can listen to the device at the same time. We also received a hard shell case to keep the headphones stored in when not in use.

Let's talk volume, while we want to be able to cut back on some noise from tablets, dvd players, etc we also don't want to harm our kids ear drums so I tested these out first to see how they are. I tested these out by plugging them into my cell phone and turning on some music at full volume, the headphones themselves prevent anything from being too loud even if you try turning up your device as far as it will go the headphones will only go up to a certain volume. The volume is the perfect amount, you are still able to enjoy what ever it is you are listening too but it also allows you to hear when someone is talking to you. This is quite handy because we all know how sucked into the screen kids can get so you still want to be able to get their attention without shouting at them. The toddler setting lowers it a bit further but your device is still audible without causing harm and the inflight mode tunes it just slightly higher than the child setting. According to their website researchers who study hearing loss have found that a person who is exposed to noise levels above 85 decibels for a prolonged period of time is at risk for hearing loss. Many devices go up quite a bit more than that so the headphones have a set decibel for each setting which are 75, 85 or 94db.

These headphones sell for $49.95 each, they are pretty durable and for me completely worth the price for something comfortable and safe for my child.
