Desert Breeze Hummingbird Habitat in Chandler, AZ - Free to Visit!

It is finally the time of the year when the weather is going to start cooling down, so I want to share a spot where you can watch hummingbirds along with other bird species and small critters. Best of all, it is free! In Chandler, Arizona there is a small hummingbird sanctuary that sits next to a public park. There is plenty of parking at the park, you will just need to walk across a small street to reach the sanctuary which is called Desert Breeze Hummingbird Habitat. It is located at 4700-4724 W Desert St, Chandler, AZ 85226. It is tucked away near a neighborhood so aside from a little noise from the park next door or the occasional car that drives by this spot is quiet and relaxing.

The area features an iron archway, a lovely pond with mini waterfall feature, a large iron tree with seating along with a small walking area with seating. We visited back in early May, it was the start of the hot months so we didn't see as many birds as you could on a cooler day, the time of day you go is also a big factor. This would be a great spot to visit whether you are by yourself or with your family. Families with small children could even use it as an opportunity to teach your children about some of the local wildlife & plants.

We enjoyed sitting & watching all of the birds and the stroll around the habitat was lovely. All of the plants and flowers are kept nicely trimmed and maintained. This is a great spot to go sit with a coffee in one hand and your camera in the other, it can be quite calming just sitting and enjoying the nature around you. I enjoyed the variety of flowers that were planted here, it gave us a chance to see the cute little bees above rolling around inside of the flowers. If you happen to be in the area, I recommend stopping by to check this spot out.

Feeding the wild birds with Chewy.com

I've always adored birds, I enjoy photographing them, hearing them sing and learning about them. I am fascinated watching them and seeing their unique personalities, however I've never really wanted to own a bird so instead of owning one I pamper the wild birds that visit my yard. I am a Chewy Influencer and I work with them on a monthly basis to review and promote different products from their site, when I saw the Kaytee basic blend wild bird food on the list of possible review items for the month it made me pretty excited.

Chewy sells this 20lb bag of bird seed for $11.99 which is a pretty fantastic deal! This mix of bird seed helps attract several different types of birds, depending on where you live and the type of birds in your area you may see several of the birds listed on the bag or you could just see the birds native to you. I generally get a variety of finch, sparrow, doves, curve-billed thrashers, starlings, woodpeckers, and northern mocking birds that stop by for a bite to eat and a dip in the bird bath.

This mixture has a combination of grains, corn, stripped sunflower seeds and black oil with added supplements  such as Vitamin A to help the birds during harsh winter months or even dry hot summer months. I have four different bird feeders in my yard all with various sized feeding holes and this mixture does well in each feeder, and as you can see all the wild birds are enjoying the easy meal. As always my shipping from chewy.com was extremely fast and it helped save me from having to lug this bag of bird seed from the store to my house! The bag was a little bit of a pain to open, I had to use scissors to cut it open otherwise I have no complaints about this product.

Do you feed any wild animals in your yard? If yes, what kind of animals visit your yard?, If the answer is no what is your favorite animal to see out in the wild?

Enjoy Magnificent Unicorns with Candlewick Press.

**This was not a paid post. My honest opinions were used, they are solely my own & they may vary from others. The products mentioned below have been provided by Candlewick Press for the review  free of charge.**

Magnificent Birds by Narisa Togo - Retail Price $20.00

One of my favorite things is birds so I was quite excited when Candlewick Press sent me a book called Magnificent Birds. Instead of being a story book this is a fun birds facts book which gives you a break from your typical fact books that can be slightly boring for kids. Each bird has a two page spread which features a beautiful sketched image that look like a watercolor painting along with a bit of information about that bird. None of the pages are longer than two paragraphs, keeping everything short and sweet yet to the point. You'll find fourteen different birds featured in this book. The suggested age range for this book is 10-14 but I think it suits any age.

Do You Believe in Unicorns? by Bethanie Deeney Murguia- Retail Price $14.99

When I was younger I preferred dragons and gargoyles over Unicorns but now I love them all the same and have found myself drawn to cute unicorn products lately so this book was a cute surprise.

This fun and whimsical book is about a horse who enjoys wearing a tall red hat and the mystery of if the horse is hiding something under that hat. Could it be a horn? Maybe he was just having a messy hair day and didn't want everyone to see it. The story follows him along on his activities during the day then at the end you get to see what he was hiding under his hat. The pastels used in the illustrations of this book were pleasing to the eye. Do You Believe in Unicorns is short, each page contains one sentence so this book is perfect for younger kids just learning to read, the suggested age range is 3-7.

Did you know Chewy.com sells books?

**This was not a paid post. My honest opinions were used, they are solely my own and they may vary from others. The products mentioned below have been provided by Chewy.com for the review free of charge.**

If you are a big TV watcher I am sure you've seen at least one Chewy.com commercial and know that they are a great place to shop for pet products. Aside from pet food, medications and more did you know that they also carry a selection of animal related books? You can find animal coloring books, pet training books and more.

Up until recently I didn't know they sold books either until I was offered an opportunity to review The Sibley Guide to Birds - Second Edition by David Allen Sibley. If you've seen my nature inspired Instagram (@Lunas_Enchanting_Adventures) then you know I love taking photos of birds, but I don't always know what the breed of bird I am photographing is. I have a smaller bird guide but due to migration patterns there has been a time or two I couldn't find the bird I photographed in the book so when I saw this book includes over 600 pages of birds I knew I had to have this in my collection.

This book is thick as you can tell from the photo above, the cover is in between a soft and hard cover.  All of the images included in this book are beautiful paintings digitally remastered from original art for enhanced print quality and have great coloring. I like the amount of information this book provides, I do wish however that instead of being sorted alphabetically that it was sorted by bird color to help narrowing down breeds easier. Over all I am very pleased with this book! It can be purchased through Chewy.com for $19.20 and shipping is fast.
