Ipsy June Bag Review!

Around my birthday in May I decided that I wanted to subscribe to Ipsy for a month just to see if I got lucky and found some new favorites, I ordered at the end of May so I ended up with the June Ipsy bag. I figured even if I ended up not wanting any of the items they sent I could add it to my next makeup giveaway. Today I am going to share with you what I thought about the bag I received, and want to note that this is not a paid or sponsored post, I paid for the month myself. So let's get to the review, is the Ipsy subscription Yay, Nay or Meh?

I personally think the subscription is Meh, It kind of seems that even if you fill out the surveys to your exact likes and dislikes you'll still end up with items you didn't want and that there isn't a large difference in the bags you receive versus what others receive. The subscription is $12 a month plus taxes so my total came out to just over $13 which isn't too bad. If you aren't familiar with Ipsy each month you'll receive a makeup bag along with five sample sized products that are "suited" to your likes/dislikes.

The June bag included a cute marble makeup bag, which seems pretty sturdy and water proof. The five sample products I received were a Benefit Roller Lash Mascara, Glow for a cause "lip love flirt" lipbalm, LXMI "Nicotica Goddess Glow" hydrating illuminator, The Balm cosmetics eyeshadow in "Wall St." and a Hey Honey copper peel off mask.

I do enjoy the roller lash mascara as it is a product I already use so I was happy to have another travel size of it since my other is a travel size as well and is close to being finished. I generally don't use a lot of blush/highlighter/illuminators so I am unsure if I will use the illuminator included. At least once a week I like using a mask or a peel so I look forward to using the one in this bag, it looks like it will be a neat one to use due to the color of the mask itself. I was a bit bummed to see a lip balm included as one of the five monthly items, it would be fine if it were an added freebie as a promotional thing for the company that would be great but it feels like an easy way not to include another makeup type product in the bag. Based off just the bag and the products I am not sure if I'd continue this subscription full time knowing some of the other subscriptions that are out there, however once in a while getting a bag just for fun isn't that bad and won't break the bank.

As an added bonus though I received a Berry Burst fun sized palette for being a new subscriber which I was more excited to receive than the samples in my bag. The colors included in the palette look gorgeous and I can't wait to use it! If you end up continuing your subscription they send an email towards the end of the month where you can pick out one of your five items in your next bag. For the July bag I picked a Kat Von D eyeliner as my "choice" item. I wasn't originally sure if I wanted going to keep my subscription going another month, but they had a deal that I couldn't refuse. To try to keep subscribers the cancelation email gave me an option to give them a second chance and my next bag would "be on them". Perhaps it was just this month that I thought was Meh so I will give it one more month and see how I feel about July's bag.

I will be using at least three of the items in this bag not including the palette and will be posting individual reviews of the items over on my Influenster account if you want to check that out. If you aren't familiar with Influenster it is a site where you can sign up to complete surveys which could qualify you to get free voxboxes with various goodies, no blog is needed in order to sign up. I've had a few friends sign up who aren't bloggers and they've received boxes. You can sign up Here.

Personna Razors Review!

One of the things that most people have in common is that we all need to shave, whether it is an arm, a face or something else we all want a razor that provides a smooth shave and doesn't cause skin irritation. I was recently sent some Personna Razors to use and review. I was sent a Men's 5-blade razor system, a Women's 5-blade razor system and a set of women's disposable razors.

Women's 5-blade razor system - The set comes with one handle and twelve cartridges which you can purchase for $19.95. Each cartridge has five ceramic-coated steel blades, and a Jojoba + Shea butter moisturizer strip.

That all sounds good, but do they work well? Yes, they do work and help give a close shave however I wouldn't say they are more exceptional than other brands. I'd like to say my shave was completely nick free, but I can say that it was less than other brands. I've been using these blades for about a month now and only nicked myself once near my ankle, otherwise my shaves have been pretty smooth and I haven't had any issues with irritated skin. After each shave I suggest laying the razors down with the blades facing up otherwise the moisturizer strip can get a bit sticky and you'll have to pry it off of the shelf when you go to use it again. The cartridges are easy to replace and take less than a minute.

Men's 5-blade razor system - Just like the women's razors this system comes with one handle and twelve cartridges for $19.95. The handle is really nice, it has a little weight to it while still being easy to use and guide around the skin. My husband seems to like these razors and hasn't complained about any issues aside from it not having a edge trimmer. When you are ready for a new razor head, the old one pops right off and a new one is simple to add.

Women's disposable razors - The disposable razors come with nine for $14.95, they have the same type of blades and moistening strip as the razor system. The only difference is that the head of the disposable razors doesn't come off, it is just one solid razor. They also do a great job at giving me a silky smooth shave! Don't forget a good exfoliation before hand and some lotion after a shave will help keep your skin feeling and looking smooth.

All of their products can be purchased on amazon or directly through their website and will arrive quickly! Their packaging looked great for gift giving though I think it is slightly bulky.

Popsonic faves and flops!

Popsonic sells a variety of self care products such as toothbrushes, skin exfoliators and more for both men and women. Looking around online you'll find mixed reviews on their products ranging from one star reviews to five star reviews, I recently tried out nine of their products and wanted to share my experience with you! So today I'll go over which products worked and which were simply flops.

My favorite product from them that I tested out is the "Smoothie" which is a small round hair removal deceive that can be used to help remove peach fuzz and hair on the face. It runs off of one AAA battery which is included with the product, and it has a cap for when it is being stored. The device is light weight and essentially works like a nose hair trimmer, you click the button on and the round trimmer on the top will begin to move. I find it is best to use this device in a circular motion to get the closest and most even hair removal, I haven't experienced any hair pulling while using this product. The smoothie retails for $24.99

The "Spade" is also a great product, which is used to help cleanse your skin, massage and infuse your favorite skincare products. It has a duel use, one side has small silicone bristles which are used during cleansing while the vibrations help remove dead skin, dirt and oil. On the back side are a few wave shaped ridges that are intended to help massage and infuse your favorite lotions, serums and skincare products into your skin to help you achieve a healthy glow. The spade retails for $99.99

I'd have to say the Typhoon water flosser is a close tie to being my favorite alongside the Smoothie, and it is the product out of the eight that I use the most. I like that after the water flosser is charged I can use it as a cordless water flosser so I can use it at the bathroom sink or in the shower. It's charge holds for quite sometime, in fact after I charged it the first time I haven't had to recharge it yet and I use it quite frequently. I do wish it held a bit more water because it seems to empty out quickly, however refilling it is simple and doesn't take long. If you haven't used a water flosser it may take a use or two for your teeth to get used to it, you may experience slight bleeding in your gums (happens with regular flossing too) that will stop the more you use it. It comes with four different tips, so you can save the extras to replace old tips with or four different people can use this since each tip has a different colored band. The typhoon water flosser retails for $49.99

Up next is the Go Sonic Toothbrush which is a travel sized electric toothbrush. This one went to my husband to test out, he didn't like how small the toothbrush head was. Otherwise the electric toothbrush part of it works perfectly fine, and it has a nice cap to keep your toothbrush cleaner and make it easier to take it on trips. It is battery operated and the battery seems to last for a good amount of time.  This toothbrush comes in nineteen different colors, comes with one replacement brush head and retails for $19.99.

Two of the products came as a duo, which are the lip exfoliator and the sugar lip scrub. I enjoyed the sugar lip scrub which helped leave my lips feeling soft and looking smooth, however I didn't like the lip exfoliator as would consider it a flop. It didn't really feel like it was doing anything aside from moving the sugar scrub back and forth, I had better results using the sugar scrub and just my finger.  Prior to trying out the sugar scrub on the exfoliator I had tried it by itself and still didn't notice any difference. The biggest issue I had with this was that the lip exfoliator was a pain in the butt to clean, the sugar scrub just wanted to stay stuck in-between the small silicone bristles and even using my fingers to scrub it made it take a bit to clean. The duo retails for $29.99 or you can buy the scrub by itself for $12.99

Second to last we have the Strawberry 3 in 1 Exfoliator, it has a section of silicone bristles to help cleanse and massage your face and a thin steel edge along the side to help exfoliate and remove dead skin. After washing you can turn use the steel edge at a 45 degree angle to help open pores and lift dead skin for removal of dirt and oils. I suggest using this while you are in the shower, the combination of the steam and the vibration from this product will give you the best results for removing dead skin, plus it makes it easier and more convenient to rinse it off. The steel edge comes with a protective cover and it also comes with a charging cord, the charging port can be a little difficult to find (it is located on the back side towards the middle of the product). This product retails for $79.99

The final two products I reviewed were the Zip compact razor for men (retails for $49.99) and the LED gooseneck mirror (retails for $39.99). I wasn't happy with either of these products because they simply didn't seem to work as advertised. The compact razor is a wet/dry razor that didn't seem to cut hair at all, whether it was dry hair or wet hair. My husband tested it out on his face and I tested it out on my arm, neither of us saw any difference in the area we used it on and we tried using it at different angles/using different amounts of pressure. If it would have worked properly it would have been nice to use during travel, however since it didn't work I tossed it out. The mirror had LED lights on it which are nice and help you properly see what you are doing, however I couldn't get the suction cup base to stick to anything in my bathroom no matter how many times I tried. I even tried getting the bottom of it slightly wet like you would when sticking a suction cup to the inside of the shower, however it still wouldn't hold and kept falling down/over.

Slimygloop Slimy Sand Review + Giveaway!

With how long many of us have been stuck inside with our kids, it can be difficult to keep them entertained the entire time which is where Horizon Group USA comes in handy. They crate a number of fun products to help keep you and your children busy and active. I recently joined their Influencer program and I am now a Giveaway Guru which means that when ever I review one of their products I get to give one to a lucky giveaway winner as well.

I was recently sent two containers of Slimygloop Slimy Sand in blue and pink. At first when I saw "Slimygloop" in the brands name, I was a bit hesitant because I know how messy slime can be so I had the kids play with this in the kitchen over the tile so if they did make a mess, it would be easier to clean up. I was happy to find that it isn't sticky like regular slime, instead it feels like soft squishy sand.

This sand is so soft! Even I sat down to play with the sand for a while, it is a lot of fun and it can be stretched, squished, and molded. When you stretch it out, it reminds me a lot of cotton candy in look and close to it in texture as well. One of my favorite things to do with it was stretching it out, folding it onto itself, and repeating the process because it made it turn into a fluffy blob of sand that was neat to squish.

Cleaning up after we were done playing was easy, I do want to note that if you ended up leaving any little bits behind or don't put the lid on properly the Slimy sand will dry out. I know you are thinking, "It is sand, so isn't it already dry?". This item has more of a putty than a sand so when the bit of moisture it has vanishes it will become a very fine sand that will easily track all over. Aside from it being fun to play with, one of my favorite things about it is that it is only $7.99 for a tub of 1.5lbs which is available over on amazon.

Now for the best part, Who wants to win a tub of blue sand plus a tub of pink sand? Fill out the rafflecopter form below to enter to win.

February/March Creepy Crate Review!

I've been MIA for a little while and if you are wondering why, you can find out by checking out my facebook post. With the summer heat in full effect I am dreaming of Fall! It is one of my favorite times of the year because the weather is cooling down and all the stores start putting out all of their Halloween decorations. My home has a bit of a nerdy Addams family feel to it, there are lots of comic book, video game and Spooky themed decor up on our walls, and I've always been a fan of horror/thriller movies. So when I found a subscription crate called Creepy Crate I knew it was going to be a box worth looking into.

Creepy Crate is a True Crime/Horror subscription box that ships out on a bi-monthly basis. Each box could contain clothing, pins, accessories, house goods, books and more that is based on either a true crime such as the zodiac killer or on a horror movie such as Friday the 13th. You can purchase a three box subscription for $120 or a six box subscription for $240.

Today I am going to be sharing the February/March 2020 box with you! You can spot the box as soon as it arrives on your porch because the box is adorned with spooky symbols like black cats, kitchen knives, etc. My box came packed with seven different products, I like that no two products were from the same horror theme. What was in the box?

I received a book called Voices in the snow by Darcy Coates, A I <3 Derry T-shirt, A Zodiac Memo Book, A digital Ebook copy of "Sleep,My Child,Forever" by John Coston, A winged demon pin, A Undead horde keychain and a set of death dice. Sorry the cat isn't included in the box! My three favorite items from the box have to be the pin, dice and the memo book. As much as I love the pin though I have to figure out where I'd like to put it, I had it on my purse for a while but the back won't stay on securely and it slips right off (thankfully I didn't lose it when it fell off of my purse).

How cool are those death dice? Each side of the dice has little skulls carved into it that match the number correlated for that side. Some of the skulls are slightly different than the others but they are pretty uniform and I enjoy that they gave them a vintage/worn stain to make them look like actual bone. They are light weight, work well and would make a great addition to any D&D dice sets. The memo book seems to be well made and I think they did an excellent job on it, I was able to guess who it was in relation to as soon as I spotted it. I always like carrying a small notebook or notepad in my purse and this is the perfect size for carrying around with me. If you love Zombies, you'll love the zombie horde keychain which features a number of ghastly zombies to help brighten your rotten day.

I enjoyed the fact that their T-shirt size chart is true to size, back quite some time ago when I was getting the Lootcrates the T-shirts were always significantly smaller than what the size chart was. So when picking out a shirt size I'd go with your normal size! I do however wish that the shirt included in this was black instead of white, as I typically don't wear anything that isn't black so I passed this shirt onto a friend of mine who will wear it. I haven't had a chance to read the book yet but it seems like it will be a fantastic read that I can't wait to dive into.

Over all I really enjoyed this box, it had several fun products that are all useful and neat to have. Price wise each box comes out to about $40, for me that is a bit higher than what I'd typically pay for a subscription box but this was packed full of unique products I loved and don't think I would have found otherwise.
