Chi Candle Review!

 

Candles are a great way to help fill your room and house with scents that keep you calm, make you smile and can even remind you of different people or places. Chi Candle sells a wide range of book, floral and state inspired candles. Did you grow up in Washington, but had to move to Texas and miss home you can order a candle inspired by your home state. 

I was recently sent three of their candles to sniff and use for a product review.  You can buy a 8oz, 8.5oz or 11oz candle from their site starting at $15 each. The three candles I received were a surprise, all of them were preselected. Let's get into what I found in my box:

Golden Coastline - This candle is inspired by California. It has notes of Redwood, grapefruit, fresh oranges, jasmine, musk and sea salt air. I really like this candle, the orange notes and jasmine combined really well together, it has a bit of a sweet scent and it does remind me of a shop in Northern AZ that sells an assortment of spiritual things like stones, incense, etc. I think this candle would be great to lit shortly before guests arrive to your home, it will help give it a fresh and welcoming aroma that is sure to have them asking where you purchased the candle from.

Midnight Sun - This is their Alaska inspired candle. I've never been to Alaska, but I have always wanted to go so I was excited to see what this smells like. It is inspired by Mountain spruce, winter frost, snowdrops and fresh air. To me it smells like camping in the winter months, it reminds me of how pine trees smell after it has rained. It is calming and has a fresh aroma to it, I think this would be a nice one to light while relaxing in the bathtub with some music on. 

New Book Pages - As you can guess this candle is inspired by the way a new book smells when you open it up and take that first breath of it's unread pages. This has notes of ambered glue, fresh ink and paper (cedar wood,/driftwood). The scent on this one is a bit interesting, if you smell the candle directly in the jar it reminds me of a mixture of a new book and pool water. It isn't a bad smell but at first can be a little strong, however after you lit the wick and let the wax slowly melt it disperses it nicely so you get the intended smell. I want to check out their Old book candle, I like how new books smell but nothing beats an old book from a used bookstore. 

All of their candles are made from 100% American grown soybeans and the candles are handmade in California. The scents added are natural and phthalate fee, and the soy is dye free. Each 8oz candle has a burn time of 60-65 hours and it is recommended that you trim the wick before each use. I also really like the jars they came in, each one has a lid and you can re-use them for a number of things. The wicks lit quickly so if you are using a short lighter or matches you don't have to worry about holding it for so long that you burn your finger.

I am a typical girl when it comes to bath products, I have a ton of different products yet I am always on the look for more. I've been on the hunt for a good scrub/exfoliating scrub, half of the products I've tried don't have a scrub aspect to them at all so I have been keeping my eyes open for something else. During my search I came upon Lulu Sugar which is a neat little shop on Etsy that sells a wide range of natural sugar scrubs and soy candles.

For my review I received a gift set that contained one 8oz candle and a 8oz sugar scrub, I did not pick out a scent prior so it was going to be a surprise once it arrived. Shipping was quick and I was pleased with how everything was packed both shipping wise and aesthetic wise, the boxes they arrived in are appealing to the eye and ready for gifting. As you can see from the image above I received a Coconut + Lime candle and a White Tea + Ginger sugar scrub.

Coconut + Lime Candle - When I opened the box I found a small branded pack of matches which is quite helpful because I can't always locate a lighter to light my candles. This candle makes me want to sing that coconut song, "she put the lime in the coconut" because of the name and the scent of the candle. The scent is refreshing and airy, there isn't an overwhelming amount of either scent the mix is just right and makes the room smell lovely. Some candles can be a pain to light because it seems like the wick takes forever to actually catch fire but I didn't find any issues lighting this which was nice, and the wax burned slowly which will give the candle a longer lifetime.



White Tea + Ginger Scrub - I've actually never tried any ginger scented products in the past and I can't recall ever smelling a product that had the ingredient in it so I was intrigued in how it smelled. The smell is exotic, and has a bit of a earthy floral scent to it which was surprising but it smells fantastic. I personally really like this scrub because it doesn't fall apart right away or melt away quickly when being used instead it does as intended and helps exfoliate your skin. The jar came with a small wooden scraper which I am thankful for because after the first use it developed a lump or two in the scrub that was easy to break up with the scrapper.

I am very happy with both of these products, combined they made for a relaxing and fragrant bubble bath. Instead of being in plastic containers like a lot of bath products tend to be in both of these products are in a glass jar with a secure metal lid which is awesome because they can be re-used when they are empty. You can purchase your own set for $38 plus shipping, they offer dozens of scents so you are sure to find something you'll like.

Geek Nest Giveaway & Review!

I purchase and use candles quite often, I love how they make the house smell verses how sprays and burning incense work because sprays and incense can leave mist and smoke in the air which can sometimes be over whelming and make it to where you feel like you can't breathe. Candles on the other hand don't leave that kind of a musk in the air instead they leave a light and airy aroma. I recently came across an Etsy shop called Geek Nest that creates book inspired candles. First let me start by saying how cute is their shop logo? I love candles, books and birds so their logo is perfect to me. I was recently sent two candles to review, one is to be kept for the review and the second was for the giveaway. Since both smell so good I couldn't decide which I wanted to keep so I let my kids pick their favorite of the two and the other will be used for a giveaway here on my blog. Everything came wrapped up in some purple tissue paper and the tins include the shop logo which I thought was a nice touch.





I received "Under the Sea" which is an Ariel inspired candle which smells like sea salt &driftwood and is a gorgeous teal colored wax, and "Upside Down" that is inspired by the Netflix series Stranger things and is a mint,licorice, and moss scented candle. Each candle is in a small round tin and has a burning time of eighteen hours, the wax is made from 75% soy and 25% paraffin wax. Both candles smell savory and charming, I have to admit at first the combination of mint,licorice, and moss threw me off I wasn't sure how it was going to smell and I was surprised to notice that is smelled a bit sweet yet woodsy at the exact same time. The Under the Sea kind of reminds me of how it smells after a good rain fall, it is calming and relaxing and is the reason my children decided this is the one we were going to keep. The containers are nice because even after burning for a few hours the tin didn't get hot to the touch so I was able to move it from one room into another. The wick itself catches quickly when lighting the candle and it holds a solid flame the entire time it is burning, the wax melts evenly and is quite aromatic without being overwhelming.

Bubble And Geek Giveaway & Review

I use a ton of lip balm & I am always on the hunt for more, I recently was sent my favorite lip balm I've ever tried. A wonderful etsy shop called Bubble and Geeks sells lip balms, candles, soaps and more in different scents, flavors, colors, ect. I was recently sent a small assortment box with some of the best products I've had in my possession in quite some time. I was sent a Butterbeer Scented Soy Candle in a tin, A ButterBeer flavored Lip Balm, and a Strawberry Cheesecake scented/flavored Tinted Lip Balm - "Rose".



Wowza I can not tell you how much I love the "Rose" Strawberry Cheesecake scented/flavored Tinted Lip Balm just by typing it on my blog. I am not a lip stick fan, I would love the color but I can't stand the texture, this tinted balm is the perfect solution it gives my lips a light rose color which looks wonderful. It isn't a bright red it just highlights your lips with a slightly more pink hue that what I/you would normally have making your lips look moisturized and pretty. I have been using this daily and a few times a day, it has kept my lips feeling and looking smooth and it smells divine. Can you guess where I will be buying my lip balms from now on? Yep Bubble & Geek is my go to store now. The Butterbeer scented candle smells how you would imagine Butterbeer would smell, it is a strong but non overwhelming scent that dances around your nose letting its delicious smell waft through the air.

In my opinion soy candles tend to burn longer and cleaner than a normal candle would, the candles are sold either in a tin or jar either way leaves you with a fun little organizer. Once the wax is gone simply clean out the jar or tin and use it to store coins, makeup brushes, ect anything you can think of placing inside of it. The Butterbeer lip balm I didn't try as I passed it on to someone else and I am 100% sure they wouldn't want a pre tested lip balm hahaha, but I have been told it works just as well as the Rose balm I have been using. I think all the prices are great for such high quality products, the lip balms are $5 each and the candles in a tin are $12 for an 8oz can, don't forget to check out their selection of melts,soaps and more you will be stuck in their shop looking around wondering which one to buy first.



Shipping was quite speedy, I live in Arizona which get pretty hot 95% of the year shipping speeds for things such as lip balms,candles and food items is important to me because the longer it is exposed to the elements the more likely it is to melt. Even during the middle of summer I could trust my products to arrive from Bubble and Geek without melting or having other issues due to their speedy customer service, shipment speed and great communication. If you haven't heard of them before you should head over to check out everything they have to offer you and your loved ones, their products would make great gifts any time of the year.
