S'moo Supplements Review & Giveaway!

 

I have an exciting review & giveaway for all of you girlies who have had issues with hormone imbalances, PCOS and anyone just looking for a good over all daily multivitamin. I am excited to share a brand called S'moo with all of you! S'moo creates a number of multivitamin capsules and powders that target different struggles like skin & hair health or PCOS management. I've been wanting to try out a good multivitamin, so when I came across this brand & was reading some of the benefits it offers I was excited to try it out. I feel very lucky to have been offered the chance to work with them on not only a review, but a giveaway as well. When looking on their website, I decided to go with the PCOS bundle. 

So let's get to the review portion! We all know that sometimes it can be a pain getting proper diagnosis's and help from doctors and things get missed, they won't listen or sometimes it seems like they just don't care. When I was a teen, I had gone to see a doctor about some issues I was having and after bloodwork was told I had a hormone imbalance, but aside from the doctor trying out birth control to balance things out they never offered any more of an inquiry into how to balance things out & that I would eventually balance out as I got older. There was a time when I was prescribed iron pills for low iron & after I gave birth to my daughter I had to have a magnesium drip because it was too low so I know sometimes my vitamin levels are off. I've never been told I actually have PCOS or any other similar issue aside from the hormone imbalance, but I struggle with a lot of the same issues so I figured I would try it out this supplement bundle and see how things went. With so many different products out there, it can be difficult to find products that work for your needs and sometimes hard to find products that actually work. 

I wasn't sure what to expect, or if I'd actually notice a different. Let me say, I am both impressed & surprised! I didn't realize just how much I needed something like this. I've been using these supplements daily for about three weeks now & I feel so much better. My energy levels have increased, even in the mornings after I first get up I don't feel as groggy as I used to. I feel like I might have been holding onto more water weight than I had realized, and have noticed this helping get rid of it. I didn't really think of weighing myself before using the supplements since I didn't think I'd see much of a difference the first few weeks. By the second week of using this I honestly felt slightly crazy, because not only was I more energized but I could swear that one of my trouble areas seemed smaller. It wasn't until a unprompted comment from a loved one asking if I felt like I had lost anything as they noticed a slight difference too that I decided to jump on the dreaded scale so that I could track progress. I had checked again after Thanksgiving and was surprised to see that four pounds had disappeared in a week. The only real difference I had made was taking the supplements & going back to cutting out unneeded bread products. I think if I combine taking these supplements & starting back on doing yoga or a fitness routine that I will finally start to have progress! I've done workout routines before while watching my diet too and didn't see much results even after weeks so I think it was an added, holy cow moment using S'moo and feeling a difference already. I overall just feel better! 

Taste wise it isn't too bad! I mix my daily scoops into a small smoothie in the morning, sometimes I make a more tropical smoothie using juice and other times I'll use milk, bananas and strawberries instead. I do find milk is the best to mix it with, but it isn't too bad with the more fruity juices too. They sell an unflavored powder or you can get a flavored bottle to go with smoothies, mix into yogurt, etc. A bottle has about a months worth in it if you are using a full scoop everyday, they often have sales on their website & if you subscribe to have it delivered monthly instead of buying one month at a time you will get a discount that way as well.

Getting a mammogram is important to help catch cancer early!

Most of us probably know someone either directly or indirectly that has suffered from cancer, it is a silent killer, but thankfully in some cases if it is caught earlier enough it can be treated and many have been lucky enough to beat cancer completely. I recently attended a small "Mom's Day Out" event hosted by SimonMed Imaging that focused on women's health. Did you know one 1 out of every 8 women will likely develop breast cancer at some point in her lifetime? however if caught early it will greatly improve chances of survival.

We all generally lead busy lives, between work, family and finding some time to ourselves many aren't able to take an hour or two out of their day to head to their doctors office to get a mammogram. Did you know you don't have to go down to your doctors office and sit in the waiting room and exam room to get your mammogram? Instead you can visit MOM which is the Mobile On-site Mammography bus by SimonMed Imaging. This bus parks at various business locations such as office buildings, malls and more and offers quick and easy mammograms that take 15 minutes or less! I do not recall if it was the same bus, but where I work has actually had a bus like this come to park to allow the employees access to it, which makes getting a mammogram pretty convenient. During the event we had the pleasure of hearing Clare Colombo M.D who is a breast radiologist who works for SimonMed Imaging speak about mammograms the the MOM bus.

Who should get a mammogram? At one point all women should go in for a mammogram, they generally recommend getting your first at age 40. There is an exception to this and that is the "10 year rule", if you have a direct family member such as a aunt, sister, grandmother, etc take the age they got breast cancer into an account and subtract ten years from it. For example if your aunt was diagnosed with cancer at age 42, you should get one done at age 32 to be safe. This rule does not apply for anyone who was diagnosed with cancer in their 20's, as they do not perform mammograms on teenagers. The MOM bus uses 3D imaging to take four quick scans of your chest which are done right inside of the bus. We were given the chance to take a peek inside of the bus, it is quite comfortable it has plenty of seating, a private room for changing, a office area for the staff member, the screening room, and a small bathroom/kitchen area for the staff. The Hologic 3D mammography they use is FDA approved, the exams help reduce callbacks by up to 40%.

Once the imaging is completed you will receive results in about two weeks, if they call you for a call back there is no need to worry! Many times they just want to take a better look at something they are unsure of, some breast have more fat cells than others, and some have more tissues/glands that all look different on the scans so from time to time they might need a better angle on a image to see everything. Those with "dense" breast that are made up of mostly glands should get at least one ultrasound as well for the best results. After your first mammogram they recommend getting one done once a year to keep up on everything.

It is highly recommended that you do a monthly self check whether you are close to the mammogram age or not just to keep an extra eye out for any irregular changes. During this event we were also able to hear two other speakers who present information on different aspects of women's health. The first was Lorina Kormos from Derma Health & Lasers, who spoke about different skin treatments, laser hair removals and more. The second was Debra Wickman M.D who is a board certified gynecologist who specializes in sexual health and menopause. Both provided quite a bit of information on their topics and were pleasant to hear speak. Attendees were also given a nice little swag bag by some local sponsors to celebrate Mom!

capriPRO electric toothbrush Review + Giveaway with SmileBrilliant.

When it comes to brushing my teeth I have almost always used a regular manual toothbrush, the only time I tried an electric toothbrush was when I found some kids electric brushes on sale for $5 so I bought my kids each one and picked one up for myself. It did alright but it in no way compared to the new cariPRO Ultrasonic electric toothbrush by SmileBrilliant.

This toothbrush has five different settings which I will go over below;

1. Clean:  Standard mode for superior daily cleaning. This is the mode I've been brushing my teeth with as I've found it is the setting I like the most for daily use. The clean mode gently vibrates back and forth to give your teeth gentle cleaning. When this setting is on you'll hear a gentle buzzing.

2. White: This is the most powerful cleaning mode for removing surface stains, polishing and vigorous deep cleaning. They aren't kidding when they say this is the most powerful mode out of the five settings, it vibrates at a higher speed and is quite a bit louder than the previous speed. When I brush my teeth with this setting I can feel it vibrating all the way up into my cheek bones! It leaves my gums feeling almost tingly after brushing my teeth.

3. Massage: Gentle gum pulsation mode for gum stimulation. For complete coverage, use with another cleaning mode. This mode will help with the blood flow in the gums as it gently pulsates vibrations to your gums.

4. Gum Care: Gum mode for gentle cleaning along the gumline. For complete coverage, use with another cleaning mode. This mode and the massage mode are used after mode one or two to help keep your gums as healthy and fresh as can be. This setting gently vibrates for a moment then gives off a pulse vibration.

5. Sensitive: Ideal for users who find the default clean mode to be slightly too aggressive. This gentle cleaning mode is tuned well for those who have sensitive gums and teeth. The vibrating of this setting is very gentle, it still helps clean your teeth and stimulate your gums without overwhelming your gums.

I brush my teeth twice daily, once when I wake up in the morning and once before bed. I also floss and use a tongue cleaner to help keep my mouth well taken care of, but I am not going to lie the first time I used the 'White' mode my gums felt slightly sore  how much it vibrated my gums, but I haven't had that issue since. They recommend brushing your teeth at a 45 degree angle for the best coverage and results. Each mode lasts for two minutes and goes for 30 second bursts with a second or two at a time, this is so you can brush each section of your mouth for 30 seconds. The short pause in-between allows you to move to the next section of your mouth. I wish it had a slightly longer pause after a minute to make it easier to spit out any toothpaste build up in your mouth. I brush my teeth for about three minutes, I do the recommended two minutes using the mode, but I don't split it into four big sections like they show on their pamphlet instead I break it down into five. I do the back sections first then I do my front teeth as one section, I also brush my tongue. After I am left feeling clean, refreshed and healthy. I have noticed that the toothbrush is helping keep my teeth looking nice and white, which is quite nice. This tooth brush is pretty long, from the top of the brush head to the bottom of the toothbrush it is as long as my forearm which is a little awkward at first when brushing your teeth but you'll find the most comfortable way of holding it for you.

A helpful tip, I suggest turning the toothbrush off before removing it from your mouth while you are brushing, otherwise one or two of the settings (white) vibrates enough it will fling little toothpaste foam pieces all over. You also only need a small amount of toothpaste when using this toothbrush, I always rinse my brush after each use but even if you rinse it all of the toothpaste may not come off, the vibrating of the toothbrush head on this toothbrush helps prevent that toothpaste buildup. Before you use your electric toothbrush for the first time charge it for 24 hours, it will last for 30 teeth brushing cycles before it needs to be charged again. The standard brush package comes with one toothbrush, two replacement heads and a charger for $119 using this with their whitening system will give you the best results if you are seeking whiter teeth. MouthWatchers ToothBrush Review!

Did you know it is recommended to replace your tooth brush every 3-4 months due to a variety of factors? I do replace our tooth brushes often however I am closer to the 5ish month mark as no one in my family brushes their teeth aggressively enough to break the bristles on the brush. This time around my husband and I replaced our normal toothbrush with a brush from a company called MouthWatchers.

So what sets MouthWatchers apart from what you can pick up at the store? This brush offers a  unique combination of antimicrobial and dual layered flossing bristles which give you a deep clean feeling. What is a flossing bristle? It is a long, soft dental floss for cleaning between teeth and in hard to reach locations, you can see both the antimicrobial and flossing bristles in the photo below.

The bristles look a little scary because you can see all the small flossing bristles sticking out everywhere but they are all actually quite soft. I personally loved this toothbrush as soon as I used it, I could feel where the longer bristles were getting into spaces of my teeth that my regular toothbrush was missing. My teeth felt super clean after using this brush, I could feel where it made a difference where some of my teeth are closer together and it seemed to do it in half the time my normal toothbrush did. I've been using this toothbrush daily for about a week now and I look forward to using it every time because I know my mouth will feel great after using it. 

My husband is a big fan of this brush as well, he has a few issues with his teeth especially when it comes to sensitivity and this brush didn't give him any issues. He agreed that during the first use it felt a little odd because you could tell the difference between this brush and a normal brush but you get used to feeling the brush cleaning the deeper spots the more you use it. Their brushes generally run about $4.99 each and you can buy a year supplies which will get dropped off one package at a time every three months.

The box I received had a box of Playtex sport tampons which are a great product! I received the double up box which means I received more jewelry & makeup than what comes in the basic monthly box. The items in my box that are included in the basic boxes are a "Have hope" silver bangle (Retail $10)  which looks great, it is simple and inspirational, California mango extreme creme travel size (Retail $2), Iris belle cherry plum matte lipstick (Retail $10), Fran Wilson Professional Quality pumice sponge (retail $4) & Pumpkin caramels from The Little Red Hen. The Iris Belle lipstick is a lovely shade and is right up my alley so I was happy to see it included in this box. I didn't really like the caramels the pumpkin flavor was a little overwhelming but that is just my personal opinion I am not a huge fan of pumpkin spice.

















The products that were included and aren't in the basic box but are in the "Double up" box were as follows; Turqoise Arrow Dangle Earrings (Retail $11), Iris Belle coral red liquid matte lipstick (Retail $10), Hikari eye shadow in bone (Retail $13) and Be A Bombshell eye crayon in angel eyes (Retail $5). The Be A Bombshell eye crayon is perfect because you can use it as a base under your eye shadow and it glides on smoothly and evenly helping you create the perfect eye shadow base. The earrings are a lovely color and they are also light weight so they won't weigh on your ear lobes. I also love the color of the eye shadow they sent. I am over all very happy with this box and think it is the perfect subscription box for all women out there. Basic boxes start at $16 a month which is a great deal, the month's box I received included $26 worth of product not including the candy or the tampons, and a double up box is $6 more than the basic and the box I received had an extra $39 worth of products so it is 100% worth the price. They also have an additional option where they will include a 4pack of Venus razor blades for an additional $12 a month.

The box I received contained a smiley face sugar cookie, a small box of tea, a heart shaped note pad, a few greeting cards, a small glass tube of bath salts and a small clay stone that says Gratitude. Once you receive your box it has several small notes included the first is your welcome letter which tells you how to unlock your seven-day quest which is where they will email you a task to do once a day that has something to do with one of the items in your box. Everything was packaged well and gives you a warm feeling right off the bath because they are all lovely items and can all be used as a way to relax.















Day number one included a mind map which included the following exercises to fill out "I am Grateful for." "Because they have these qualities" "Which reminds me to be grateful for these". Day two wanted us to send a note of appreciation to a friend or loved one, which I love because I enjoy sending cards. Day three you are instructed to relax and enjoy a cup of tea, I am not a huge fan of tea so I let someone I know who likes tea drink this while I enjoyed an iced coffee and we relaxed together. Day four we were told to go to our happy place, a place for which we are extremely grateful. We were to spend 30 minutes there in quiet appreciation and leave our gratitude stone behind for someone to find.

Day four reminds me of a stone my fiance and I used to have that said "love" and was used as a game of hide and seek, sadly one of us hid it so well we never found it again even after we moved. Day five asked you to perform an act of kindness, I had no problem fulfilling this because I am always trying to do random acts of kindness when ever I can. Day six we were to use 5 of our sticky notes, write all the things we are grateful for on them and post them somewhere we would see them on a regular basis, I placed them where my fiance could see them as well because I am grateful for him and our children. Day seven was the last day and you were instructed to relax in the bath with your bath salts! Over all I think this is a well thought out box and think that these will do extremely well because not only do they hold wonderful items but it gives you something fun to do and look forward to during the entire time you have this box. It is time again for Fitness Friday! I can't believe it is friday already the days seem to be going by faster every day. I have been wanting a water pitcher for a while but didn't realize how big of a difference it really made until I received the chance to work with mavea a company who makes Water Filter Products for my recent review I received a Elemaris water pitcher.What are the benefits of MAVEA filtered water? The day I received the Pitcher I couldn't wait to test it out so I followed the instructions to get the pitcher ready for use then I filled it up & left it in the fridge to get cold. Right away you could tell a difference I put normal tap water in one glass & water from the pitcher into another the first thing I did was smell each "sample" it was amazing the difference between them the filtered water didn't really have a smell but with the tap water sample you could really smell the harsh minerals & almost chemical like smell from the faucet. You can also taste the difference I never noticed how bad drinking the tap water actually was until I tried this water filter I now use it to refill water bottles,use it in my ice trays,use the filtered water to make pink lemon-aid & more.****This was not a paid post and my honest opinion was used. Fitness Friday! [Yes a day late but with a very busy schedule its hard to keep up sometimes] I am not one of those people who has an easy time sticking to a diet for a number of reasons not enough time to cook a healthy meal,influence of coworkers,ect but I know I can reach my weight loss goal so I am going to start "Fitness Fridays" where I will be sharing Healthy recipes,my weight loss updates & review/giveaways on fun products to help you along with your fitness routine.

For my recent review I was sent a Black SpiBelt, The SPIbelt is sleek, expandable, secure, and does not bounce. It can hold an iPhone, Droid, keys, cash, credit cards, identification and many other small personal items. SPIbelt won't ride or shift while running or participating in other vigorous activities. I personally like the size of the SPIBelt I received because it is not large enough that I feel like I am wearing a fanny pack but it is just big enough to hold the things I would need most cell phone,cash or cards,id & a small emergency kit. I plan on taking this with me to family summer events that way I can keep my giant purse at home & not have to worry about it getting in the way while still bringing my essentials.The belt arrived fast I was excited to get a chance to use it & test out how much it could hold I am very happy with my new SPIBelt & I am happy to have it to use when I go on camping trips,hikes & trips now. The SPIBelt doesn't take up a lot of space so it is easy to store when not in use weather its in a drawer or in your car glove box you can keep it handy anywhere.****This was not a paid post and my honest opinion was used.
