Wingspan Fan Art Pack Review!

Back in February, I posted a review for a visually pleasing avian inspired board game called Wingspan from Stonemaier Games. Today I will be telling you about a pretty neat pack you can purchase to give the game a little extra flare. Stonemaier held a Wingspan fan art challenge where fans from all over the world could submit art work of the birds on the wingspan cards. Out of everyone who submitted something, two hundred and fifty-five were selected to become cards for the fan art pack.

The cards are mechanically identical to their counterpart cards in not only the base board game but the Europe, Oceania & Asia expansion packs as well. So all the cards will still play the same, they just look different. I haven't looked through all of them yet as I want to view them during play, but from the stack I have looked through I love the wide assortment of art styles & even the different mediums they used when drawing out their design. I pictured two of my favorite so far in the image above, One is adorable as can be and the other is whimsical. You can pick up the Wingspan Fan Art Pack on the Stonemaier website for $25. At the bottom of the card you'll find the name of the artist who draw the photo for that card.

I think this is a great way for them to show love to the fans & it is a fun way to support everyone who submitted and had their artwork picked for this fan pack. It would be neat to see something like this for more card based games.

Trekking the World - Board Game Review!

It is always a pleasure to find a board game that is not only fun & family friendly, but also matches your interests. My family & I love exploring new places together and we love board game nights, so we were very excited for the chance to receive a copy of Trekking the World from Underdog Games. This board game has a travel theme, you will be traveling the world collecting souvenirs and touring popular tourist spots like the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, and more. This game is for two to five players to play over the course of thirty to sixty minutes and it is designed for ages ten and up. It can be purchased for $49.99 on their website or you can purchase it on Amazon.

The game has a simple set up, you'll be able to unpack and place out everything in less than five minutes, then you'll be on your way to exploring. Not only is it easy to set up, but the rules are pretty simple as well and you'll learn how to play this rather quickly.

Each player starts off at an unoccupied airport of their choice, from there they will use playing cards to move along the board while collecting small colored cubes which are the "souvenirs". Players will need to move along open paths on the board, if another player is blocking the path you want to take, then you'll need to find another way around or figure out a different game plan for your turn. You will earn bonus points for collecting groups of souvenirs, when you have one of each color it counts as a group and gives you points. There is a secondary set of bonus points for the player who has the most of each souvenir color & yes it can be stolen if someone passes you for that color.

To help you move along the board, every player will start off with three playing cards in their hand. The cards can be used in two different ways, each one has a number & a picture on it. The number is what is used to move across the board & you have to play the exact number you want to move - no more and no less. You can play one or more cards to move along the board, for example if you were at the Eiffel Tower and want to move to the pyramid of Giza that would be four moves so you would need two cards with a value of two, or a single card with a value of four in order to complete your trip. The photos are what you'll need to complete a "tour" of a destination, you'll need to match the photos on the destinations show card & you need to be on that location to tour it and claim it's card.

Easy Peasy! So basic run down, collect cards, move along the board snagging cubes and working on collecting destination cards. The game ends once one player collects five destination cards or five region bonus tokens are claimed. This game can move along pretty quickly & it is a lot of fun to play. I really enjoy the graphics on the board & on the cards, plus your player mat is shaped like a suit case and it is where you'll stash your souvenir cubes (How cute is that?). I've heard of a lot of the destinations featured in this game, but there are also quite a few I've never heard of before so I like that I was able to learn about some new must see destinations thanks to Trekking the World. Along with this game, Underdog games has several other similar games such as Trekking Through History, Trekking the National Parks and more.

Does this sound like a board game you would enjoy playing? What is your favorite feature of this game?

Poof! Patch Review + Giveaway!

Having an ingrown hair or a blemish that hasn't quite reached the surface of the skin can be pretty painful, so it is nice to keep something on hand that can help you combat those situations. One of the things I always like keeping on hand as part of my skincare supplies are blemish patches. I want to share a new blemish patch brand with you that I recently learned about. I was given the chance to work with a brand called Poof! Patch who makes acne patches that aren't just for your face, but they include a larger size that is perfect for anywhere on your body. Their patches work on not only blemishes but ingrown hairs as well.

I was recently sent some of their patches to check out for review & I was sent two extra packs to giveaway! I will be giving away one pack here on this post and the other post I will be including in the May Beauty & The Book giveaway so keep an eye out for that. The patches come in four fun designs & some of them even have rhinestones to add a little extra bling to your patch.

Every pack comes with 32 patches! Poof Patches are hydrocolloid patches with calendula which helps with inflammation, reduces redness, helps with swelling and more.  The patches are also waterproof so you can wear them while you shower or in the pool. The large sized patch that comes in this set is the biggest acne patch that I've seen from a blemish patch company. They are perfect for those really large painful blemishes or if you have a patch of several small blemishes close together then you only need one patch instead of sticking a bunch of small patches onto your face.

The four shapes to choose from are a heart, a cat, a moon or a butterfly! Some of them already come with small rhinestones attached, but they also include extra rhinestones in case you want to add one onto your patch. The patches are easy to apply, & I didn't think they were too difficult to get off. My teenage daughter has been using them over the course of the last week & they have been helping to reduce a troubled spot she had on her chin. The patches can be worn for short periods of time during the day, or you can keep them on for longer such as sleeping with one on over night to really see the benefits of using acne patches. You can pick up a pack of 32 patches on their website for $20 USD.

💜 GIVEAWAY ðŸ’œ

One lucky winner is going to a win a pack of Poof! Patch blemish patches.

This is open to World Wide! Please remember if you DO NOT leave a comment on this blog post as your mandatory entry into the giveaway then all of your entries will be void. Doing the Daily entries will increase your chance of winning. Winners have 72 hours to respond to the notification email! This giveaway is hosted by ME.

Giveaway entry question: Leave a comment letting me know which patch shape is your favorite & let me know another shape you'd love to see in the future!

Explore OceanXperience at the AZ Science Center!

One of the things we love about our local science center is that the third floor has a featured exhibit that changes every eight months or so & it is always fun to explore together as a family. The current featured exhibit is called OceanXperience where you can experience a replica of the most advanced research and filmmaking vessel in the world. Sometimes the featured exhibits require an extra ticket along with a ticket into the science center, however this exhibit is included with the cost of a normal admission to the science center. Today I will be sharing some of our experience with you along with some sneak peek photos of what you'll be able to see in this exhibit.

When you arrive to the exhibit you will be given an interactive wrist band & asked to register it to one of three missions. We chose to do the Hammerhead shark mission! You will be given a map to follow along with that will take you to the various stations that match up with your mission. Along the way you will scan your bracelet at different stations and complete tasks while learning about the ocean animal you selected for your mission.

We were lucky & there weren't a ton of people inside of the exhibit when we entered so we were able to walk up to each station and complete our tasks without waiting in line. They had some pretty cool interactive stations that showed how they track sharks, what type of research they do on them and more. All of the stations are great for any age!

If you take your time reading through the information at each station and completing them as you go, then you will spend anywhere from thirty to forty-five minutes in this exhibit. After we completed our mission, we also walked over to check out a few of the other stations just to see what they were about. It was a lot of fun being able to explore this with my kids, we have a great time completing our mission.

Summer is quickly approaching & the weather is already starting to warm up so this will be a great spot to stop and beat the heat with your kids. When we stop by the science center, we always like starting on the third floor at the featured exhibit and working our way down to the first floor visiting all of our favorite stops along the way. There is also a theater, a planetarium inside of the science center, that you can visit!

🚢 Does this sound like an exhibit that you & your family would enjoy? What sea creatures would you love to learn about?

Luna Stone Subscription Review!

Getting a subscription box in the mail is always a nice way to treat yourself to a surprise! I recently learned about a small woman owned subscription box called Luna Stone, that is an accessory and self-care box & was lucky enough to receive one of their boxes to check out for a review. Luna Stone is a quarterly subscription box, that comes with six to nine full sized women's selfcare products such as skincare, hair accessories, jewelry and more. Each box is guaranteed to include a jewelry item, a skincare item and a sweet treat along with the other goodies included. You can subscribe for $25 per quarter, shipping within the US is included with the cost of the box and boxes are shipped two weeks after subscribing. Luna Stone subscriptions are available through Cratejoy.

I recently gifted their Spring box & I will be breaking down its contents here in my review. Let's start off with the non-skincare/beauty products that were included in my box. I found a cute zip up makeup bag, I think this bag would be great to keep in a swim bag with summer essentials like sunscreen and lip balm as it defiantly has a pool side vibe to it. The pink & black bands I believe are hair ties, however I have been using a black one as a bracelet instead because I like that it is light weight & the stretchy bands on it are fun to pull on. There was also a really cute silver and turquoise flower jewelry set include that has a pair of earrings and a necklace. The sweet treat for the box this time around was some M&M's, which are always a nice little treat to have.

Moving onto the skincare & beauty items, I found two different under eye masks and a regular face mask along with a cute tube of lipstick. I always enjoy relaxing after a long day with a face mask on while watching a show or resting my eyes for a moment, so I can recharge from the day. I've already used the Peauamie under eye mask set & they were lovely, I liked the cool blue color of them, and they left my skin feeling refreshed and nourished. I also found a couple bonus stickers that aren't shown here.

I enjoyed the selection that was included in this subscription box & definitely think that this subscription box has a lot of potential and I look forward to seeing what they put together in their next boxes. If getting some great goodies delivered directly to your door isn't sweet enough, they also make an annual donation to a mental health charity or association. If this is something you think you would enjoy for yourself or want to send a box like this to a loved one for their birthday, I suggest checking them out! You can click on "Luna Stone" to be taken to their cratejoy site.

Four Gardens - Board Game Review!

Along with the game play itself, board games that have beautiful game pieces tend to draw me in when I am searching for new games for my family & I to play. I was recently asked by Arcane Wonders if I wanted to receive a review copy of a game called Four Gardens. Once I looked over the game description, it felt like it would be a good game to fit in with the type of games we typically like to play. Over the course of the game, you will work towards the goal of building beautiful gardens to gain points and win the game. This game is for 2-4 players ages 10+ and it is played over the course of 45 minutes. Four Gardens makes a great game to play together as a family & an easier starter game for younger kids wanting to get into board games with their friends and parents.

The garden cards in this game are quite lovely, I like looking at all of the different garden pieces. During the game you will be able to build one of several gardens, based off the color that is on the garden card you select. Each garden can only have a certain amount of cards in them & this will also be shown on the cards to help prevent you from having too many cards or duplicates in your garden. Every garden color has a different number of pieces that may be played, for example the red garden only allows two cards. The end of the game is determined by how many people are playing, the guide book will show you how many garden pieces need to be completed for your number of players to trigger the end of the game.

This game can be pretty fast paced if everyone pre-plans out their next moves, it is a lot of fun to race to see who finishes the game first & who is able to collect the most points. You'll collect game pieces, play cards, build gardens and gain bonus tiles that allow you different rewards in the game. We enjoy playing this together, it is quick to set up and easy to put away which is always a big plus especially when everything fits back into the box properly.

I like the game pieces that are included in this box & the large pagoda tower that is used to determine which game pieces you will collect during your turn. This game normally cost $39.99 but is currently on sale for $34.99 on the Arcane Wonders website. Along with this game they have a great collection of family friendly board games.
